*quote: Blah blah blah with tool decay people won't be so focused on numbers! quote*

I call bullshit. Higher numbers is ALL this game is. You can't just take that away by causing tool decay. People will then get HIGHER numen and make HIGHER quality than before. It's an endless upwards spiral that you're all mad to think you can stop. Crops, tools, animals... It's ALL just about who has the highest numbers, and then it boils down to. "Do I know the right person, so I can buy these numbers with pixels attached off of them?" The ONLY way you could stop the number grind is to put a cap on everything... But if you do that, once we get capped on everything... What next? Boredom and griefing. Stop and think carefully before you post shit like this. Tool decay would only hurt low-tier players like you guys said who just got gifted tools. It would give them a purpose, to grind enough pearls or what ever this world demands as recompense for higher quality tools, but it'll never take away the constant grind to acquire *this weeks* highest quality.

It will keep the economy pumping, encourage trade, and give a reason for continual mining.

Is this on the table at all?

I realize you like the idea of this or you wouldn't have posted it, but it would be another thing like terraforming is in this game, extremely boring & time consuming.

Right, but you can also repair and then improve that tool back up. Basically making it a resource sink. Wurm Online needs such a sink, everything is capped at 100 and eventually the q grind ends. This is missing in haven. You make a q 100 pick. Next week after the farm and tree cycle you can make 101, and so on. Eventually the old shit gets left out to decay or traded to noobs for stuff like chants, thus adding wurm's resource sink. Haven doesn't need two resource sinks.

There is food decay you silly boy. Haven't you noticed your chicken going from sizzling to not?

Actually to fuel a stable economy there MUST be an 'out-flow' of resources. Right now there really isn't any unless you're looking at food as the foundation of the economy.. It's great as a basis, but not extremely viable.

Curiousities, Food, Tools (Including Weapons/Armor - Which already decays with use), etc. All of these things must flow out of the system, to bring in new ones (or new resources to repair old ones) to keep things going. We've made due, but all of this keeps things interesting, interactive, and trade flowing.

Also - The difference in quality doesn't really matter until you hit 160.. There are subtle differences, but not much. After that the difference ceases to be of importance until you can produce quality 250, then Q360, then Q490, then Q640, etc.

Time is the unit of economy not food. Play more to understand that. We used bricks in world 3 to quantify it somewhat.
"Since all men count themselves righteous, and since
no righteous man raises his hand against the innocent,
a man need only strike another to make him evil."
