b) defense tools vs asshats like Dis/AD etc etc etc.

Hey! We are asses, but I actually like the idea (created Apples and Orange trading center in world 6).

The problem with the trading center is more people are going to attack it than defend it.

Not necessarily. If the defenders are paid decently in food/curios and allowed to loot the attackers they kill than it's a pretty tantalizing prospect for many people. Get to do pvp from a defensively superior position, while being fed curios and food. Hell I'd make an archer alt to serve as a defender if they'd be willing to provide me with curios and food enough to be an effective combatant. All you'd need to do is get a skype group together that places a call whenever anyone's attacked, defenders join in and fight em off.

As long as the defenders aren't going to be required to be 'main' characters, I know many many people would do that. Especially if you are allowed to send off 'spoils of war' back to your real character. (rings, capes, swords, armor you pull off dead raiders.)

A traitor with a slave key could ruin it all though.

Yeah who will pay them? Its just not gonna work. You must not lie to yourself. You know its not gonna work.
It will get raided in <1Week
For example, many guys made alts and then went to AfO and stole everything from stands then quickly tp'd home. No one could do anything

I agree, I'm not gonna do it. Was just making a suggested idea I know some people'd buy into.

Though one thing to note, you can't inherite with lp/stats anymore. And you can't spawn on hf's. If you were gonna make an alt to steal from a trading village it'd require a decent amount of work to do so. Probably more than it'd be worth with a single alt.

Options:
1. People will get their own trading palisades. Customer will travel there and enter the palisade. Make the trade then leave.
+ The seller is relatively safe if he will have a buddy or two with him.
- The customer is vulnerable if the seller decides to back stab.

So probably there is a need for an organization of certified traders. If you will fool your customer once, then you are out and noone is going to trade with you.

2. Trade face to face, meeting at some place.
- Both parties might be ganked during the travel. And you cannot blame either of them if you were killed before reaching the trader.

3. Neighborhoods will trade with each other locally.

4. Caravans are rather a role-play, too expensive, high maintenance, time consuming, nice as a roleplay.

Yeah, the 'trade' palisade boxes is a good idea, that way minimal loss. That and you can lock people in with a smart build so if they do backstab than they are pretty much stuck. A certified trader base, with trade boxes for use by external parties would be a pretty cool idea.

Personally I'd also like to say, I prefer hunting other pvp'ers over traders. Fellow raiders tend to have better gear than random merchants, and I'd not mind scouting around in the woods near those towns looking for other people who are scouting for vulnerable merchants

If "roads" hadn't turned out to be such bullshit (A random sign on the ground is not a fucking road) then I'd say either regional trading towns or just roads between trusting neighbors but as it is the whole road/teleportation thing just annoys me too much to bother with.
