To Fence, or not to Fence

Postby Whitehyena » Tue Sep 08, 2015 5:09 pm

So, I'm just wondering, since I'm recently all claimed up an all, weither or not I should fence my property. Eventually, I will, yes, but when I have access to better fences. But, what I'm wondering is if it's actually worth it to build a Roundpole Fence.

Are they like the RPF's of Haven 1, where an errant sneeze could knock them over?

Should I build on stone to preserve it, or just not bother, since (hopefully!) soon, I'll have a sweet, protective Palli?

Or, should I just not bother since most of the players around me are ahead of me, and will ruthlessly and belligerently steal/destroy my stuff AFTER knocking down my fence?

It's an extra layer of protection. Without a fence, any thief only needs trespassing and theft. With a fence, they need vandalism to break the fence, and now, without stealing anything, they can be tracked and summoned. Without a fence, they can look, and if nothing good is there, they just move on and can't be summoned.

FYI (for anyone reading this and didn't already know), just as easy to not put a gate on a roundpole fence as to put a gate and lock it. You can quickly knock a hole in it when you leave and patch it from the outside.

Personally, I'm just building on bare ground to test the whole decay thing and if it went back in (wasn't there in Salem, and they pulled a lot from that code base).
