About quivers

Postby Ants » Wed Sep 23, 2015 9:30 pm

A leather quiver takes up two inventory slots. You can store thirty arrows in it. Those arrows can only be fired if the quiver is equipped on your back, taking up the slot that a backpack would use.

Now, here's the problem: you can keep a fully loaded quiver in your backpack and take the arrows out of it manually whenever you need them since loose arrows in your inventory can be fired. There is little reason to equip the quiver.

Am I missing something here, or are things a little unbalanced? Is there any reason to equip quivers?

Not particularly. For hunting purposes, it's a little too punishing to give up that much inventory space though. If it's forced to be equipped to the back, people would probably just stop using them entirely except for pvping.

I'm not really sure what a better way to balance arrow space management is. Forcing quivers to be equipped instead of backpack has always felt a little overboard.

Couldn't quivers be equipped on the hips, maybe where a belt would normally go?

+1, made a belt just so i could try to equip it like that and was very disappointed when i couldn't.

i still equip my quiver on my back everytime i go hunting and leave my backpack behind.
someone mentioned feeling like legolas when you have your quiver and bow equipped and that's exactly how i feel when i'm out hunting. it's pretty cool.

It's certainly been suggested before.

Belt quiver would be pretty nice, even if they reduced the quiver size to balance.

+1. The other thing is, that as i I'm someone interested in historical martial arts and archery, and seeing quiver on the back just hurts my eyes.

They honestly work just fine on either the back or belt. Hell, you can just stick them in the ground when shooting even.

Well, on back they are much less comfortable than on the belt. Having quiver on your back while in forest is pain in the ass. Arrows are grabbing the branches, falling on the ground while you bend and/or try to jump over something on your way (hips are a lot more static than chest, and also they are hanging there, which gives them some place for movement), it's completely different than standing still like in nowadays archery. And yes, of course sticking them to the ground is the best option, as it makes them really handy. But you can't really move much in that case. But I'm going totally offtopic, pardon me.
