Idea - Man-Made Lakes?

I really think there should be a way o make rivers and lakes ingame, that would be so sweat to be able to make a motte around your main settlement... But then it would be unreachable with a ram, but you could have it where players can only dig shallow rivers.... and theres the problem of making the world ugly. at least you should be able to build bridges....
