The entire suggestion was to add an automated way to bring items from point A to point B, that's the benefit of spending all that time. You spend an hour or two building a path from entrance to your mine, instead of the hour or two building a road, what's the difference? Would your objection be to afterwards the minecart has to take time to travel instead of instant teleportation? Because that's really not an argument you want to start

Nothing in his suggestion was about it being automated, he said you would "push/pull" them around which sounds exactly like a cart that only works on a forced track, if the idea was to be automated, going from point A to B on its own, sure I could see it being useful, but not if it ends up just being a cart with heavy limitations, I'd rather just use a regular cart.

A tracked system would be OK in case you are able to push more than one trolley at the same time (following the track), plus the ability to deconstruct the track (regaining the rails while losing the sleepers, materials should be able to go into the trolleys and track be built from them) so you can place it somewhere else when the local node runs dry.

Also please a lift for the trolleys, which would be a buildable upgrade to the minehole, and the ability to build tracks through cave enhances.
