ability to burn down houses with torch. Doing so will kill any characters logged inside the house :3
If you log inside the cellar, you won't die, instead you'll log back in where the house once was and with a pile of ash on every free slot on your backpack

---EDIT---
More about it/some ideas from the discussion:
DaniAngione wrote:It's not 'simply' to grief:
1- It's a cool/realistic thing. Raiders did burn the places they were raiding.
2- It's an easy way to destroy houses if you want to build them again with new materials, for example (I'd love to give my old, pre-farm houses a Barley Thatching roof but destroying them manually is just annoying. And not building a ram just for that either)
3- It 'cleans' the world, though I suppose it should leave some kind of rubble to be cool/interesting.
4- It's a way to make sure you kill everyone on a settlement but it also offers an option to survive (having a cellar, as it would act like a bunker)
I'm against mechanics that are there simply for griefing too. And like I said, I am a peaceful/friendly player myself (so it's something that I'd probably never do). I do think it would be a cool thing, though. Fire/columns of smoke are universal 'signs' of danger/raiding and would be an interesting thing to look for when exploring. Imagine yourself wandering the woods and finding the usual Haven destroyed base. Sometimes you're not sure if it was attacked or abandoned or both, but columns of smoke and destroyed buildings would add a lot to immersion, etc...
Believe me, I'd never want more senseless griefing in the world - I really believe this could be cool. Besides - if they can 'touch' your houses, that means your walls are long gone and you're screwed already, so it doesn't really change things or make griefing worse or more possible.

-a good bit of materials, time, actual effort put into razing it.
-a way to counter it if it's left alone after it's started.
-possibly a minimap icon so that you can see the smoke from a distance to either avoid or inspect.
Edit:
Additionally it would cause a vandalism scent no matter if on claimed land or not, so people wouldn't just burn down non-claimed houses for funsies.
I completely agree with those suggestions!
I think that the materials could be essentially torches, however there could be a chance (not so small) for the fire to not spread and you have to use another torch.
And yes - house should burn for a good while. And by good while I mean like... 12-24 hours - no kidding!
When burning, it could slowly give HHP damage for "Smoke Inhalation" (slowly enough for people to take belongings out but not AFK in there)
and could be easily countered with some buckets of water, let's say.... 1 barrel for Log Cabin, 2 for Timber House, 3 for Stonestead, 4 for Stonemansion, etc...
Also, chance to set on fire should lower the bigger the house - larger houses are mostly stone, after all, and it IS harder to burn.
And the minimap idea is amazing. I was thinking how could we 'see' columns of smoke from a distance, but that's brilliant. Some sort of small icon that would appear on the edges of the minimap showing nearby smoke columns (like 10 or less minimaps away). That would be *really* cool.
And sure, vandalism scents are a must. Or maybe a scent of its own, since burning down a whole house is arguably worse than destroying a picket fence. Could be something below Murder scent only.
Oh, and if someone is killed inside the house, murder scents as well, of course.
