rustroot not pointing out if rocks are under you

its really annoying when i'm prospecting and its like "sandstone below" It would be nice if it only pointed out metal and coal

At q10 it only shows what is below you. At around q30 it scans an area larger than your minimap and shows a pointer to any metal nodes.

That is not strictly true, Gabula. I am able to detect a direction for metal with q17~~ rustroot, and even q12.

I actually like being able to see rocks below me, but the popups after I have a million bajillion rustroot charges expended are annoying to click away.

If you're standing directly above cave level tiles that are already mined, ie walkable, that's when you seem to get the actual radius with the highlighted direction shooting out of your character. Prospecting over solid rock tiles doesn't seem to show this radius, from my experience. The quality of the extract is what determines the size of the radius, i dunno how it works when it doesn't actually show you it though.

If it just printed it to system output for normal rocks, and only gave a popup for ore, that'd be nice.

How about instead of a pop-up it's just changed to write in your system messages, like combat discoveries and being too tired to mine anymore.

Yes Vigilance you can get the directional pointer with q12 extract, but not with q10 extract in q10 jars.

Q10 extract has a range of 5 tiles to ore.

I like the pop-up telling what rock is underneath you, this is sometimes useful information.

However, I agree it's a bit spammy with the pop-ups, not like we don't get that visual indicator if ore is nearby.

I think mostly everyone agrees the info is useful, it just needs to be conveyed differently.
