Berries need a hunger change

Berries are meant to be a filler food, but they are not really worth it to use at the moment because of the hunger levels that they give

0.1 perc FEPs but 1.5% hunger
This means that eating one berry will give you basically nothing other than a variety bonus, but the other food is still comparable in terms of hunger level they add

Example:
Image
This sausage is giving 3.27 hunger for nearly 9 FEP
2 berries give 0.2 FEP while using up 3 hunger

The hunger levels for berries need to be lowered significantly or they are not effective filler foods

The hunger levels could be toned down a lot. There is other, better and easier to obtain variety foods out there. Outside of that all they need is a use outside of variety bonuses (jam when?). But the same can be said about a lot of foods in the game.

Tbh, I always assumed the energy/FEP per hunger % was meant to make berries basically not worth eating.

Admittedly though, you can Qgrind them for substance and pop them on a table that reduces 90% hunger cost. At that point, anything <2% base hunger becomes an attractive variety food.

My table reduces hunger by like 80%. I wouldn't waste it on a berry when I can eat another bear banger for less than 1% hunger in it's place.

At some point the variety bonus becomes worth it over raw FEPs. Just because that's not true now, doesn't mean it won't be in 100-200 more stat points. Your argument works against all variety foods currently if you think about it. The amount of variety you want/need for optimal FEP per hunger shifts the higher your stats get.

The biggest argument against bushes is their spammability vs other foods. I do want combo foods (jams, pies etc) that take the base item and transform the stats rather than having static recipes though, so if that happened we'd see more viable things abounding.

I found berries especially useful for grinding stats, that I had problems with finding enough pure foods. Prime example - psyche. I'd eat a buttered bulb, a cavedog, a boiled mussel, and then just a bunch of berries purely for variety bonus without "polluting" my psyche FEPs more

The idea of "filler foods" as cheap as berries is pretty stupid.

Love the multi FEP baby. Worship it, make it your god. And then that god will give you lemons, and you'll appreciate those lemons!

I'd much rather just get some damn recipes that use them

I think berries are meant as a survival food so that why the hunger level is as it is. I do agree with Sabinati on recipes however. :)
