A building fully or partly under ground to help store Tubers ect... it would be a building that just has a basement, simple ect...

While this sounds nice and all, I cannot help but wonder in what way it would be better at storing tubers than any other container or stockpile. :)

I meant what it was used for, stock piles ect... are the main thing. This would not stop the need of stock piles and so on. Just give another building type that could be used.

You basically building a basement with a roof.

Could just be a space saving building.

You build it on a small 2x2 area or something, it opens up into a larger cellar.

I actually like Root Cellars.

Considering that it is supposed to be partly underground, partly outside... it could be built on cliffs and work like mine-holes, opening up a small 'cellar' on Cave level1 but with an horizontal entrance instead of a vertical one.

That little room could be expanded or left as it is, a small storage room.

People would just use it as a cheap way to 'make' caves if it was done that way. It would be served if done how Garfy mentioned it above, small building opening up to a larger cellar. Even if all the building was was the size of a log cabin (or smaller?) with stairs going downward into a mansion sized cellar. It adds building diversity, as well as makes viable storage space for those with small claims.

True, but if it was as expensive (or maybe just a little less - like 5 Hardened leather instead of 10) I don't see how different from mine holes they'd be :P

Though I like the idea of being a cellar with a small surface building, I foresee abuse. Besides, having the surface area be smaller than the underground area would be rather unrealistic because you'd be able to build 2 of them next to each other on the surface and have two big cellars that should overlap (but won't), making it a way to 'multiply' space.

This already happens anyway. Every building has a cellar bigger than the building, and you can place buildings in such a way that the cellars would overlap without any issue.

+1.
Wouldn't even mind the loading screens.
Bonus points if we can tack signs onto them.
W3 to W6 - Blockland. Special mentions: New Avalon, Tarn of Hotdog, Red October.
W7 - Elvenia, til we all got lazy.
W8 - Cult of R'lyeh, til the deeps called us back.
W9 - Tartarus, til death/wizards came for the land itself.
W10 - ???, ruined and forgotten.
