There is no way other than euristics to detect its use ( modified clients). I don't know why euristics aren't used then, but i guess its related with heavy coding and shit devs dont want to do.

I wouldn't take that comment too seriously.

Comma's work wonders in these situations.

I read that as 'shit devs'

They aint shit! They awesome.

The proper grammar would not include commas, but rather "...shit that devs don't want to do."

If botting continues to be endemic in this game it will have less customers.
New players will meet not only veterans who have played longer in this world and other worlds thus having (rightfully) more experience, but the veterans also have bots!
Why in the world would new players pay for playing with a huge handicap even if they are intent on playing alot and have high ambitions?

And no, suggesting that the noobs should start botting themselves or quit, is not a good option.
The bots must go or the bots should be an inherent part of the game with access to them for all.

On topic, I don't really see bots as an issue. There's very little that needs to be botted (drinking while area farming/digging, which should have been included from the get-go, and auto-study are all I can think of). Only problem is when people have the bots that run 24/7.

Betwen those 2 opinions I think we can find how to solve this.
Since the game requires huge amounts of time terraforming and building, some things should be automatized by default, or maybe shortening some building requirements or materials required, but defenetely by balancing the game giving acces to all the players to the same chances. As dageir sayd there is no way to compete against bot users/developers, and probably the best way is giving acces to them to everybody by default.

This is how it is for cheating/severe exploits. I assume it's not the case for bots because they're harder to detect and confirm.

Salem devs have succeed in preventing it. Why not haven?
Maybe our devs could even SAY THEY DONT TOLERATE BOTTING AT ALL.
Instead of just saying nothing so everyone keeps votting. They have never officaly said that they dont tolerate botting.

You mean Salem devs succeeded in making botters be quiet about their usage? You can sit there and say stop botting or nuke villages all you want and people will still bot in secret.

And as far as captcha goes it only stops afk botting at that.

The role of botting is to get stuff done without actually paying attention to the task and maybe have multiple bots running on different accounts while being AFK or raiding with the "rage" alt.
I believe the game will be better off with one account per IP and only one character per account. This will enhance the social interaction since people then will need to
cooperate to get things done.

There is this wonderful thing called multitasking and monitoring bots is not a challenging thing to do.

And the one ip per account is highly abusable and would only hurt normal players or lazy people.

So monitoring bots is not hard? I am afraid I missed the point of that sentence in this context.
Yes, I guess it is abusable, but is the abuse detectable? If so users who does abuse could be banned for ever.
Also there are programs that can help out against hackers/cheaters. For instance: http://www.easyanticheat.net/
Im not sure if EAC is the right thing for HnH, though.
