Yes, it occurred to me the other day that you should maybe loose 10% of your stats upon death. That would mean for a noob type player who has lets say 10 points in each stat, getting ganked wouldn't be the end of the world. They would still have 9 points in each stat. Someone like myself on the other hand who has close to 100 points in each stat would loose a total of 80 points (10 off each stat) pushing them all back to 90.
That would mean that death is still highly undesirable and more importantly punishing at higher levels, but not so bad that its not worth pvping. You would still pick your battles, but it would encourage more player interaction and a 'well it's risky, but worth it approach' when considering going into a possible pvp situation.

Don't trivialize death.
Losing just 40% is the best it has ever been.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

To other items in this thread:

...Have the developers ever considered two different levels of "death"?
If you die in pvp combat perhaps you get rebirth through Valhalla or what not and rather than losing up to a large % of your stats (if you can't get your skele to bury) you lose all your equipment and lose say 15-20% of your stats.

With a slightly less punishing pvp related death perhaps more players would try it out.

I like the current death system if it would relate to wild animal encounters or mining accidents ect.

A world map: having a published world map and cord systems that players could use to interact further would increase player player interaction pvp or trade wise. I know there are options for both maps and cords in various clients but what about a map that fils in as anyone who plays discovers the area? With a single hosting site that any player can access ones they are at least verified act.
I had similar map cord programs on some of the servers and those communities always were much more lively (good and bad)
With the newer map gen the environment is much more memorable that before, so having a functioning map to locate your self, friends or prey would be great....

They are considering using the Alter in it's current form or some other form as I understand it.

I like the different levels of death scheme you're suggesting a lot. In a sense they already have it with the ancestral inheritance, but what you're suggesting is a diversity I too feel is lacking in the current model.

Personally, one of my fav things is exploring the world, creating my own maps & filling in the details such as HQ soils, H2O, etc... & I have found it difficult to near impossible to use any of the ones that come with any of the clients (Sorry.) I still use the old Salem Map Tool as that one just works best for me. A way that facilitates sharing this info with just who you want to, as well as finding and choosing places to meet IMO would be a huge improvement, & reason to keep a larger map (Not a necessity but, which I personally am in favor of.) & combined with some adjustments to the PvP/Death mechanics, along with a bit more to find like the relics that were suggested earlier in this thread, all strong motivation to increase player to player interaction..
Just my .O2... Taste, drink.., like/hate...

Your account is, and will remain, verified. Of course.

Meaning i get the 125 instead of 50 stat cap or will you find out something else to give verified players?

Thnx for quick reply btw, you guys rock!
Total misplay.

Thanks! Right back at you! Under that regime you would get 125, yeah.

Please, make an ability that you can spawn somewhere close to your friend, hell you don't even have to make it close, but also it should not be really far when you're making a character in the new world. There's absolutely no need to keep the un-fun,mindless walking and running to your friends once you spawn in the game, it demotivates a lot of people that you can't play with your friends, especially it demotivates the newcomers. I also strongly encourage you to re-think the everyone spawning in the same grid idea.

A question abbout valhalla - Will my old char that is in valhalla will be still there after the world reset?

How should alt-spamming be prevented?

Any particular reason why?

Already answered, but, no, it will not.
