The bad thing of capping that it can start discussion like: "you can't do anything unless you pay" and those new players will be pretty hard to convince that 50 stats are pretty good to do really alot... They will still say "you can't do anything" and as there is no other marketing except word to mouth - it can have great influence. However, I have no reasonable ideas on other ways of monetezation that'd be new and not mentioned in this topic already...

Also, please overcome your vision on sending e-mails and notify your playerbase about start of a new world. It is perfectly OK.

+1 to using the emails.

it wouldn't prevent you from doing anything in the game. You may not be able to mine tough nodes or go a few layers down. But you could technically do everything in the game. By the time my character reaches stats of 50 i basically can do everything, aside from the rare materials i haven't discovered yet. Now, if you mean pali-bashing with a troll str character, yeah you couldn't do that ;D

i don't think it would turn players off, i think it may push them to actually support the game if they lasted several weeks already.

I have never minded receiving emails from game companies that were developing games or a game that I liked. As long as they were informing me of updates and or new games that they were developing. Just as long as it wasn't all the time or for every minor thing they did (Like weekly updates.) Especially when I was following multiple games at the same time.

Will the amount of gold/silver in the new world be less than the current?

You can spawn alts at a charterstone anyways can't you? What does stopping people spawning at eachother early on do when charterstones can already spawn alts asides for making the start of the world a pain because you have to walk to your friends?

Charter stones take some planning, and a village, and are thus exclusive within a fairly large area. Hearth secrets allow you to spawn any number of characters at any point in the world with very little planning.

How should alt-spamming be prevented?

You are implementing changes which only encourage alt spamming. Isn't it futile to resist at this point?
If you want to prevent alt spam you are going to need a more comprehensive and effective strategy than "trololol enjoy your hike".

Any particular reason why?

Resource deprivation for new players. Lack of content in the wider world (ie. ruins and noob villas). Also spawning into a wasteland midworld isn't the best first impression one could make. Unless there's something at the center for new players it just seems callous to dump everyone there.

That's my take on it. I'm sure other people can add to that.

Spawning into a wasteland is pretty disheartening.

That baby-blue-eyes feeling of entering the world and seeing a healthy amount of untouched wilderness—that's refreshing.

I think that so long as the party arrow functions, less confined spawning would be a nice touch... also, Supergrid-Centered Hearth Secret spawning would be a nice touch.

So, enter the world using someone's hearth secret, and it puts you within 5,000 x 5,000 tiles...

Personally I have no problem keeping on the move, but I can understand how it dissuades other people not to be right next to their friends...

The oregon trailing / hiking experience tends to be a highlight that is only visited early game. After being settled, rarely do people embrace being adventurous.
