Well, I have been playing around with it and testing it and so far although I have successfully slotted most things, at the end of the process I have now used most of my best hermit gear and resources and still am no-where near my stats prior to update except for gaining slightly in perc which I didn't want anyway ... good job introducing it half way through a world btw ... add to that the better items to gild involve the unobtainable, or rather, the unobtainable - without paying a fortune for - special resources and you have finally buried legacy.

Tbh, you lost me at the start of the world with the special resources anyway.

The problem is that the new system requires it. For example, it's trivial to get extremely high bonuses to marksmanship because you can enchant +10 marksmanship/slot super easily, meaning you could literally make scary combat alts with 1 base mm and rage without the new cap.

jorb wrote:As a part of this we made it so that no stat bonuses, or combinations of them, can ever push you beyond twice of what you already have natively. This partly to reduce the effectiveness of dressed up alts.
if you have 1mm it will only boost you to a max of 2mm

Yes, I am fully aware. You seemed to be complaining that they made it like that, and I was explaining that it is necessary with the new way that item bonuses work.

Clogs are ugly but like straw hats they're easy to spam until you've unlocked a couple of slots.

I want to second the suggestion that failed attempts should destroy the gild rather than the item, so you don't have to litter the world with hundreds of hats/robes/shoes until you get another slot. I'm already dropping my excess items in the river.

if you want to really test this system I would say the best way is a world reset

I love the direction the game is headed in, in which players make the items they craft their own. Previously your boat was just as much your boat as mine, now with materials you create your own custom boat which you can recognize as yours.
Players are posting pictures of their matching beds, tables and chairs that they made and almost no two are the same. Shields are also going this way in that even after someone has stolen your shield, you still know it's "your" shield.
This update is a step towards the same thing with equipment, in which the bear cape I make and own is not the same as your bear cape.

dudes complaining about it happening half way through the world, what if it was right after a reset and they changed the stats or costs after a week or two? Wouldn't that be just as bad?
What about the late game stuff, what if they changed the gold gild items a month or two into the world? Wouldn't that be as bad as doing it part way through this one?
Gotta test new systems somewhere, and while it's not the same as testing from the start of the world the harm of testing now isn't as bad as people are making it out to be.
Also when we finally get a reset the system in place will be a refined version of this system based on the testing from this world, so the balance fluctuation of it during the next world will be less.

Yeah nah, I think re-add the old buffs, but keep gilding.
Or if you don't like that, just go back to the old system. Not liking this at all.

so this is basically what going to happen.... because this system seems exactly like the Astonia soulstone system.

In Astonia you would take your armor and you would put a soulstone in it... they higher quality soulstone the higher the stats you might randomly get on your item. People would collect tons of soulstones and coninously roll items until they maxed out specific stat they wanted. people will use bots to collect tons of soulstones... just like it will be botted in haven to get good rolls and multiple slots.

what this leads to:
people will be required to have multiple sets of gear in their inventory at all times... they will be required to have macro's to hot swap this gear out or they will be at severe disadvantage.

in combat people might for example have a set of super high agil gear... and right before they go to use cleave it will be setup to automatically swap to high STR gear so they kill their opponent in 1 shot.

archers might have +unarmed/agil gear and +perc/marksman gear.... they will swap to shoot u... then swap back.... etc etc

tldr: this will be botted like crazy and people who don't bot or use macros will be at a huge disadvantage again.

The problem here is no cooldown on gear swapping, not the new system.
