Idea: Livestock management for filthy casuals

Postby LadyGoo » Fri Sep 09, 2016 9:40 pm

After reading numerous complaints of noobs and Kaios, I've come to an interesting idea:

The livestock should never starve to death if the personal claim is active. Instead, it should graze from the grass and slowly loose its quality, if there are no good quality feeding troughs available. They should also stop getting pregnant while grazing from the grass.
Once they'll be given the access to the feeding troughs, they will rise their quality back to their birth stats within a week or two + become fertile again (happens in animal kingdom).

So, here is the scenario:
Kaios went to a vacation for 2 weeks and left some feeding troughs and planted some grass around his livestock. The animals have eaten all the food provided, then started grazing and lost their quality from 80 to 40. They have also stopped reproducing (to avoid the sheep island scenario from legacy). After the owner has returned, he has harvested some plants and fed his animals. The quality of the animals went back to 80 from 40.

Conclusion: Filthy casuals are happy.

You like this in addition to or instead of some kinds of manual hibernating options?

What is advantage here compare to hibernate? Why you think this one is better solutions?

At least it is more logical + you do not always foresee whether you'll have some emergency that will leave you no time to hibernate your animals one by one.

It does seem to be advantage. What about these chickens? They can graze from coop?

Domesticated animals don't hibernate.

Best solution I think is to
A) Make troughs be able to hold more so it is easier to prepare for long outings
B) Make animals eat less so they last longer with current troughs
C) Remove mechanics that make pregnant and milked animals eat more
D) Some mixture of the above
This really is a very simple numbers issue, there are no crazy mechanics changes needed. Animals should still die when not fed.

Not at this moment present. But common suggesting is for adding this.
