Here's how crop raising will work. Initially, if you plant on a better spot, you'll hit that cap in a week or two. You should get an average quality increase of around 2.5 per generation. Once you hit that cap, you'll get an average quality increase of around 1.5 per generation. That quality cap just slows down progression, and getting that high node to start on gives you a couple weeks jump on others that would just plant on q10.

Is it the soil? Jorb said "crop nodes" so I'm guessing no. If I were to guess at this point, you could find it based on the WWW you find, but it might not be that, either.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

But if crops have their own q nodes, than what is the purpose of soil q? Only for the initial potted trees?

I understand that it's just a buff and not a must to have. But since I've decided to be a farmer it would be a handy thing to know. Should I serach for a high Q soil, or just plant and see the average increace

It means I think lets say they add a 2nd or 3rd quality for some item, there is are lovely single flat q already there with an image. It adds so many options when you do start with a single quality then if you have 3 for everything.

Got little mini cave houses now, yay. The larpers will approve!

What's their purpose? To be an early game trap for people who think their stuff will be safe?

Have a claim outside and they'll be visitor inside? We'll see how they work exactly...

@jorb, I really enjoy the deep tangle terrain/map, but I feel you could have made it tanglier
