so I just gambled with my life going through a vortex. I came out the other end with no boat and survived with just 10 hp making it to shore.... I do not recommend it.

It seems to just teleport you around to the edges of the world. Sort of like Pac-Man, only more random and super deadly.

Always make sure to fully repair your boat before diving into a vortex, of course. loftar didn't say that it will do upwards of 100% damage, but 50% seems to be the minimum, and he said it can do more than that.

I traveled through several dozens, repair bill was 1 to 3 boards for each time.

Not sure what your experiences are but the same whirlpool ported me to the exact same location 2 times in a row. Just luck or are they static at some point?

Untill now,to me, they are always static...always ported me at the same location, though the one you exit from doesn't port you back from where you from but at another static vortex, and so on....I'll check better next time, but to me they seems static, and it's nice :D

I died once to a vortex since then I made multiples tentatives (50+)
damages to boat vary between 1 (could be 24) and 74 (could be 51) damages. as long as your client doesn't show your boat as damaged you're safe.
There is a limited number of area you can vortex to and it cycles. it's always A->B->C->D->E->b->C->D etc
you can't come back to the initial vortex.
in my area the number of locations you can vortex is 6-7 , server are down so I can't verify it.

well this explains why may saves from my Christmas vacation were gone. Had no idea there was to be a new world, just started playing again....

This is what I remember, before Salem, and after. BTW, were verified accounts unverified for some reason? I could swear mine were verified but now they aren't.
