Books instead of human skulls. The corpse of the player is just a corpse. Knowledge is stored in books. They can be exchanged, studied, replenished and stored at home. Perhaps this will save players from stupid massacres.

Prisons aren't a terrible idea, since jorbtar doesn't want us to dispense frontier justice properly anymore.

Make it a special building, and if you knock out a criminal with the red handed debuff, and you have the appropriate skills you can use an authority based ability to send them to the special building, while there they have a buff where they can't be harmed, and their travel to hearth ability is disabled, and the length of time spent is based on the crime committed, once their time spent is up, they can freely hearth home.
