However, I do think the idea is interesting. Rather than having it being a punishment mechanic, you could just have a higher range of possible quality increase when harvesting at the optimal time, and just the normal quality chances if you harvest it immediately or after two weeks.

Any mechanic that relies on precise timing, have a great advantage in using bots.

But the timing doesn't need to be precise. ghandhikus's original suggestion involved 24-hour spans of time during which a certain quality effect applies; that should definitely be feasible for a human.

Botters will simply downgrade to the lower ql level they can get, or enlarge farms to possibly, randomly get the max ql that their bots then autosort to the best, then seed again and so on.

For me, the only way to remove botters, is trough controls and by banning players that bots. Seen that on a LOT of online games, it works better than one can expect.

I doubt anyone would wish to do that for free, spending a lot of time chasing those people and I would rather have Jorb and Loftar spend their time on developing.

Also there's other ways, not so effective, but still, exists.

Oh great, now we have Superfly-GMO, miracle-quick grow, Hyperactivity disorder crops.../
CAPTCHA is a horrible idea for immersion in a game and a cop-out from a developers standpoint IMO. /delete agreed.
Some good ideas already posted in here and I think combined, with devs creativity we might get something feels more natural. But IMO the whole farming/credo/fep thing needs to be scaled down, maybe just a bit... Now that we are starting to get more content in other areas, perhaps the time is right.
Just my .O2... Taste, drink.., like/hate...

... just remove the quality from crops and all other things that are easier done bye a bot than a human. But not at all! Use the Credos for quality gains. E.g. Lets say there are endless lvls in the farmer Credo for each lvl you get a +5 better crop. (But then i would like to do 3 or more credos at the same time). Imagine if someone focus on smithing and nothing else he could be the best smith in haven regardless if he is a hermit or in a big (bot)faction. And his name would be taged on the item instead of "mop". He and maybe his friend who spent all his credods in mining could run a small camp with a postbox infront their home where people from all around could place their orders.

Will be posting this week's patch on Tuesday rather than Monday, 'cause reasons.
