unable to launch with mac (solved)

The worst monsters in the Hearthlands warp the fabric of space and time...

unable to launch with mac (solved)

Postby JinxDevona » Wed Jun 13, 2018 8:13 pm

I've searched the forums but I can't seem to get it to play since Hafen. I uninstalled and downloaded Java 8. I have permissions for the site set up. I use a mac 10.9.4 (I can update the mac if need be but I prefer not to for it screws everything up lol) I have played off and on since W5 and I was really excited about trying Hafen (even considering a verified account). Have tried autohaven, bothe Ender updaters and Amber. I would be grateful for any help. These are the errors I'm getting:

Solved: I finally solved the problem. Apparently some mac users have had this issue with other games as well. We get stuck somehow with an old version 6 of Java that doesn't get updated with the newer versions. This forum page from another game gave me the solution: https://www.wakfu.com/en/forum/36-techn ... configured

At the bottom it has a link to a JDK8 download of java and after downloading and installing I can use the Ender updater to get H&H up and it let me log in to create a new character! (Amber might work as well, I have not tried it)

Mods: H&H has always been one of those games to give macs a hard time so if mods can spread the word when maccies ask for help, we'd be grateful.

Thank you, while waiting for help I've been trying Amber and Ender with no luck. I'm not sure about the run.bat and run. command files for them. If I run the file it tells me the stuff I put in is wrong for reasons I don't understand. Most likely they are the commands for a pc and I need the command lines for mac. I have tried everything I can find on the forums to no avail.

I haven't played in ages but when I did I played on a Mac. After a little bit of effort this morning, I was able to get Amber to open on my old machine. To piggyback on Borka's comment, you do need to make the run.command executable. I did this:

Go to Finder, then Applications, then Utilities, and open Terminal. Type
chmod a+x and then, after the x, drag the run.command file there. This will type out the whole file path to run.command for you.

My command line looked something like this:
chmod a+x /Users/jen/Downloads/ambertest/run.command

You can see that I was lazy and just kept amber in my downloads folder, but renamed the amber folder to ambertest because sometimes the mac terminal doesn’t deal well with symbols in file names. My guess is that original name is fine but I didn't want to take any chances.

Now, in theory, you should be able to open Amber by double-clicking run.command in Finder. I had to solve a whole bunch of other problems before I could play, (I had multiple versions of Java installed) but this is definitely a place to start. Good luck!

P.S. I thought it would ironic if I put in all this time to open the game, logged in, and got instantly killed. But that didn't happen, and the hearthlands looked beautiful!

Thanks borka. In terminal I'm guessing... "no such file or directory. When I try vanilla version I get "The application has requested a version of the JRE (version 1.8+) that is not installed." When I can get the login window it says "connection refused"

Java is version 8 update 172 (build 1.8.0_172-b11)
