Nails, and leaving messages

Postby Onionfighter » Thu Jun 18, 2009 3:07 pm

Often, you cannot afford for your message to go unnoticed at the bottom of a basket or urn. For this problem, I suggest the creation of a new item, nails, which could be used to nail messages to things, like trees or doors, maybe even chests.

Nails could be made using the mechanics skill, and either the anvil or the minting device. They could also be a required component of future buildables.

this is a good idea, fluff but useful and funny.sticking your note to something, so it wont despawn (assuming they do if you leave them on the ground) or go lost in a crash/restart)

Maybe not "any object"? Since it would usually have the same problem as just leaving the message in a basket - how would the receiver know "he's got mail"?

A pair of objects comes to mind. First, signpost, or message board. Cheap and movable. You can place it and stick/nail your parchment to it. Would work for leaving a message out in the field, sort of a runestone replacement.

Then, mailbox. Requires iron (a tiny bit), and cannot be moved. Can accept parchments and shows up differently if there's something inside. Of course, has little relation to the "note and nails" idea.

Is that the best you could come up with?

Why not nail the corpse to the door?
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.

No, no, why not nail your enemy himself to his door while he is still living!
