Quest givers

Why questgivers aren't mythical creatures like dryads or ents but instead just plain trees? Let us speak to something that at least has mouth.

By definition, isn't a talking tree an ent?

Quest givers should be spirits that inhabit in other stuff like trees and stones, so when some bad kitty chops down the tree or breaks the boulder, the spirit should possess another thing nearby.
I am sure it has been recommended before

I personally find mental communication more logical than a mouth by a tree. Or a tree can rustle leaves like a speech. The mouth will be more unnatural and cartoonish.
Excuse me, I don't speak English.

MB tree with mouth would be stupid but it could be bigger tree that is easily ditinguishable from ordinary trees.

That topic was discussed gazillion times already. Jorb likes quest givers being incognito.

maybe have it pop out of the ground when a person who has a quest for it appears close by?

then you can give it whatever sprite you want and it will be completely hidden.

Any hearthling that attempts to chop a questgiver should be given a prompt.
A prompt that this tree is surrounded by some magic and further attempt at chopping it, would result in angering the spirit, thus creating this:

Yes, a quest giving tree should beat the shit out of any hearthling that is too weak to handle it.

Well, I'm a bit defaced, my charisma is 11, but I do not consider either of these being my fault.

Today, I visited a tree 12 minutes of running from my base, took a naked swim, gained 2 points on IDK what skill, then visited him again. He was about 30 minutes or more of running from any water I could swim in. So, after doing all he told me to do, (and spending about 90 minutes for that) he gave me a reward. He relieved my stomach with 2%. For those 2 percent I took my time first taking its bark, since it was a birch tree, then chopped it down, then made it blocks, then took its roots out, then I teleported home and split all those blocks. Now it helps me cook my food.

Do you think I should have let that retarded moron making fun of my efforts alive? I call it a retarded moron because he knew I'm short tempered and I have an axe before mocking me with its useless 2%.

Should it after its practical joke, also spawn some monster to beat me up? If it does that, I'll start hunting down and burning alive its relatives too.

As a rule of thumb, everything that makes life easyer and less boring/grinding for players is a great idea. Everything that makes the game harder is crap coming from sadistic tendencies of Jorbtar helped by the few players with the same kind of disorders.
