There are many sources of ferrum in world, some plants or bacteria can collect them and accumulate.

1. Remove prospecting by rustroot, move it to hearth magic.
2. Make rustroot a rust plant, that can be dried and grounded into rust.
3. Add additional rust plant like rust bulb that was described in post higher, that can be found only in caves/mines and give even more rust.
4, Make it so that you can smelt 0.50 rust into 1 cast nugget.

It will be awesome mechanic for world start, and noobs who cant mine yet.

The first iron did come from bog deposits and black sand.

Put an even heavier XP cost on miners who already blow everything they have on Miner Song (which isn't a ton, since they spend so much time on a repetitive task) on a new spell they are now forced to use?

I'm not sure what the intent is here, but that doesn't sound like it'll have an amenable impact to people who enjoy mining as a profession. If you want to make rustroot smeltable for nuggets I don't see why prospecting has to go.

let us craft bread with cloth too!
and do not forget about planting carrots by throwing a brick into the ground!

i already made my b12 out of blueberries earlier so this is a good idea to me

this idea sucks purely for hearth magic prospecting

I didn't say I thought it was balanced, but the two suggestions are distinct and I have significant issues with one of them.

The idea of bog iron as a forageable seems balanceable if kind of pointless.

Bump, current mining requires too much dedication, while solves issues with fast progression for fractions, barely affordable for hermits and small groups.
