Changing the food system its very difficult, since its hard linked to other aspects of the game, like cooking, hunting and farming. Changing it will require additional balance on other things, like how much meat do you get when you butcher animals and how many items you need for the food recipies.
Right now making food and raising attributes is a very slave process that doesnt allow you to do other interesting things on the game, but is so important that if you go exploring with Knarr for 2 hours you kinda think that you are loosing time because otherwise you can be in your home making food and getting more and more atributes.
Imagine if you need to craft curiosities and right click "Study" to instantly gain the Learning Points then craft again and again until you can't study more because you have a headache (similar to food satiations). This is how the food system works right now.
The concept of this idea is changing the Food Event system to a Diet, making it similar to how study works.
Players that put extra effort on better foods will have better hunger level and will be able to raise attributes faster than other players.
Diet
- Food Satiations are finally removed from the game.
- Food Event Points bar is changed to Stomach bar.
- Like now, you eat and fill your Stomach with different attributes.
- The concept of Food Event is changed to Digestion.
Digestion
- You do 1 digestion every 4 real time hours * hunger level (see hunger level section).
- With each digestion, there is a random and you gain the attribute. (same way as current system)
- Your Stomach is relieved by 10% equally of all of the attributes you have on it, leaving new empty space to fill it with new food attribute points.
- If your stomach is not full and the random ends to empty space you won't gain any attribute but your stomach bar will be relieved by 20% equally of all of the attributes.
Hunger level
The lower your level the faster your digestions are.
- Newbie: 1 digestion every 10 minutes. (catch-up mechanic)
- (150%) Ravenous: 1 digestion every 2 hours.
- (125%) Famished: 1 digestion every 3 hours.
- (110%) Hungry: 1 digestion every 3,6 hours.
- (100%) Content: 1 digestion every 4 hours.
- (90%) Full: 1 digestion every 4,4 hours.
- (75%) Stuffed: 1 digestion every 5 hours.
- (50%) Overstuffed: 1 digestion every 6 hour.
Catch-up mechanic
For alts or new players that join the game late or for the first time, or players that come back after some time, there should be a catch-up mechanic, allowing them to get attributes faster than players that are playing the game, for a limited time and with some conditions.
To be in Newbie level, characters should meet some criteria:
- World should be X time old.
- Character creation date should be less than (World time - X) time old.
- Character average stats should be less X% than the highest active character in the game.
Other
- Symbel should not give +FEP bonus anymore, just reduce %Hunger of the food.
- Salt shoudl be reworked to work like Truffles, having more or less charges based on quality, reducing %Hunger of the food when you use it.
- Overall all food should give more %Hunger than now so characters doesnt stay always on 150% unless they put extra effort.
- Better foods (more difficult to create, made with better spices, smoked, pepper, salted, truffles, ¿highest quality?, ...) should give less %Hunger.
