Look at the pains this dude is going through, and how much progress he manages to make (spoiler: none) --- before running into an abandoned plot, and soon after being found by a bunch of folks watching his stream. Note how clunky, unintuitive and uninformative the base client is.
Then realize that: 1) the dude is a seasoned indy game reviewer and has seen some crap; 2) has done his research and watched some tutorials (by his admission); 3) is streaming, so kind of has an obligation to stick through for at least a few hours. Your average new player would've given up long before that.
