Polluted Hearthlands

The hearthlands should get polluted from the emissions of kilns, smelters and everything else.

Hearthlings should face the consequences of pollution for producing their useless garbage.
The hearthlands should start thinking about the carbon neutrality. If the hearthlings of the hearthland don't care about this and the pollution threshold is reached, hearthlands should exprience apocalyptic events like drought, floods and so on that would destroy their trash villages and give them diseases

It'd take a fuckload of coal burning to have as much impact as post-industrial society, but then again, global warming already started rolling right about when London was starting to be filled with smoke stacks. So who knows? Problem is that rising sea levels would definitely screw some people up but droughts don't really exist as crops don't suffer from lack of water. Terrain could slowly become barren wasteland though.

actually second this. Really fits into the themes from legacy, with the whole industry vs nature shit.

I mean flooding is a stupid idea, but if they make soil quality affect the quality of crops and forageables, then pollution could lower soil quality and affect the quality of surrounding plants. Would also make mulch actually useful, as you could still farm in a heavily polluted area if you kept changing the soil and making as high q mulch as possible.

Granted, with how slow progression is in this game I can't see villages large enough to be affected by pollution, or rather, it would only really affect a couple villages in each world at a time
