Linux (Pop!_OS 22.04; open jre/jdk- text too small to read

Postby xyzzy57 » Wed Feb 22, 2023 2:11 am

I would like to be able to play from my linux system.

Unfortunately the default client is displaying text too small for me to read. Images are usable, but in a similar scale to the text.

I suspect it's ignoring a scaling factor set in my window manager. (This looks similar to problems I had with everything when I first installed the system, before I set the scaling factor, rather than overriding the monitor's default resolution.)

I'm running POP!_OS ,which is a Ubuntu-derivative, using the Gnome 3 Window/desktop manager.

Has anyone encountered this and come up with a way to fix it?

I *suspect* if I'd set a different monitor resolution, rather than a scaling factor, the client would behave better - but this would have an unwanted effect on everything else I do on this system.

[Edited to add - I'm now playing with an interface scaling control found in the client's "Interface settings". Unfortunately it doesn't seem to actually do anything.]

Make sure to restart the game after setting a different scale ingame.
Other than that I'm not very familiar with Linux.

I play on linux as well (Mint) but have never had this problem. Try downloading text packages from the repository maybe? Or perhaps try Ender's client?
