While it's a safe assumption that this would increase your enjoyment, do you believe that 24 hour siege is good for the players that get their homes leveled down because of it?

Does it really make the game better for people who aren't in the top 10%?
This is an honest question.

I'll just post this reminder that the reason we changed siege going into this world was because last world every other noob was being sieged, while there was very little to no interesting PvP between equal players. At least that's the way it seemed to me. Not saying that was correct, but please elaborate on your thoughts on this point.

Pvp-only stat/skill caps would help fix inequality in sieging. :D

Also if Sieging required a shorter commitment but had a longer warning, like for example a 8 hour siege after a 3 or 5 day warning(without having to sit and watch a stupid ingame object during that whole time), that would give hermits time to move their stuff away to somewhere else. Even easier now that stacking is a thing.

this world we almost sieged ozzys base but they used numen while we were sieging to basically make us leave cause the time was absurd

Not saying situations like this incident did not happen when siege was 24 hours, but now that sieging people the "right" way is considered non-viable, people are going to use methods like that instead.

Have you considered that might've been a result of something else

The siege of Aurora was the /entire/ reason I started playing. Even when I was a helpless hermit just hearing about people getting FUCKED made the world feel alive/interesting/motivated me to keep playing.

The reality of conflict/human nature is that when things aren't going somebody's way they will look for excuses to cope.

This man wanted to play with my group explicitly to fuck with people, but when my group ended up trying to siege/fight them this world he went on the forum along with several of his other villagers and requested siege/PVP be removed from the game.

This sounds like a huge criticism of this guy specifically, but It's just human nature. You see this exact same shit every world from 50%+ of fighters who play the game exclusively to fight. You cannot trust people's emotional reaction to losing.

A majority of the people who complain about haven being too brutal only ever made their account because they liked the idea of haven being brutal. It's the one draw the game has that sets it apart from the 1,000 other sandbox farming games, and I guarantee you those same people complaining things are too brutal will leave for another game if it stops being brutal.

More common variant of that attitude:

1. World resets and there's blank slate in terms of character stats and infrastructure.*
2. Large number of people and groups go in excited, assuming they will be the top dog this time.
3. They end up not being the top dog. (Likely involves complaints that the actual top dog botted/exploited/cheated.)
4. They start whining for reset once step three becomes clear, sometimes less than a month into the world.

*Game knowledge and experience, arguably most important bits, absolutely carry over and this is why I would highly recommend starting late in the world as a new player rather than waiting to jump in blind at reset.
