kinda crazy that siege is literally in a state where there will never be one again, but most of the framing is around siege being free and 2ez

There seem to be an issue with material costs, it'll either be too expensive for average player to ever siege anything, dirt cheap for "factionbois" or both.

You should only be able to kill somebody if you sacrifice LP/FEPs equal or greater than theirs

point is, devs have chosen to disincentivize siege along exactly the wrong vector.

Instead of “siegers risk losing something should they fail” they’ve nerfed it by adding all sorts of annoying timers, five+ layers of numen wards, and siege chess to the point where it’s less of an “incentive against” and more of a practical impossibility. I’m not proposing siegers be forced to give up their items unilaterally, the ability to salvage siege machinery would obviously go both ways. Under the current system it’s even worse since siegers don’t just “risk” resources: a bunch of hard leather and brimstone + RL days of their time are guaranteed sunk cost, ntm victory is impossible against active and knowledgeable defenders.

PvP combat is already balanced this way: the titan alt you spent the past 2 days feeding and equipping stands to lose its hard-cheesed stats and q20 chicken swan helm same as the other guys born yesterday titan. It would be more fun for winning as a defender to feel like a net gain instead of a net zero at best, and might cause said defenders to stop whining on the forums because siege for them cannot be anything more than a chore for mere survival.

Reduce timer to 24-36h (I like the siege window idea so it could be lower if defender could set "safe" and "siege" days and hours), and make it so every non-defender (not part of sieged claim) near the ram in a decent range (make sure people know when they are in range so no surprises when fighting near a ram they don't know about, perhaps even warn them near the zone as to prevent baiting into the zone) can be finished off after KO by a defender as if they had popped murderous rage, perhaps after some time on the ram has passed so people don't build rams during normal pvp to try to get that kill.

Makes it risky for the attacker to actually defend the ram, while still being feasible (just run if you are low hp, it's not like you'll get 100 to 0 in a sec). Even a newb could probably call in some big bois to def their village (make a system for temporary defender status idk or just invite them into vc/add to pc) if they knew there was possibility of actually killing someone's char.

Probably abusable in 100s of ways but i think it will be funny so idgaf. (People will probably make kill zones or some shit with it, but any system that devs come up with will be abused in variety of ways so eh)

Edit: And maybe make it so dying is actually bad instead of good

just boost your claim power so the ram always decays before it can even scratch your walls
