The fight with the Mammoth looks like this: just throw it into a previously prepared trap with a small hole in the palisade to hit it with a spear behind a narrow passage, which means that 1 person is able to kill the Mammoth at a very early stage of the world. Make the Mammoth have area attacks (Shock/Stomping) with a greater range than weapons and to deal damage only to players but not to objects such as palisade or buildings. The fight with the Mammoth would have to take place in Melee with several experienced warriors. To limit the fight from the boat, make it so that if the Mammoth cannot use an attack, it always uses (Shock/Stomping) or spits from the Trunk with a ranged attack. The Mammoth should be the pinnacle of achievement due to its meat, skin and Bones.

This also applies to hunting an Orca or Cachalot, escaping to the shallows/shallows and hitting it until it falls, just like with a spear/B12. Give these Mammals a boost of energy by giving them an Area Attack (Water Wave, Scream) so that it deals damage to the Ship or the Player alternately.

Make sure these Animals don't allow themselves to be beaten in the face with impunity.

If animals can break palisades they will used as better version of siege machines
It's very cool ideas how to make something impossible to kill, i recommend to add cave in attacks like trolls to them too. How in you vision regualr player must kill orcas or cachalots? Making raids with 20ppl to kill one mob and lost a few ppl in progress?

That's why I wrote that Mammoth shouldn't be able to destroy buildings with his attacks, only damage to players.

Experienced players need challenges, even if there's a problem killing an Orc or Cachalot. In this case, even if someone dies, there's a chance that they'll manage to kill them for the loot. Here, at least there's a reward in the form of resources that will be hard to get and will have value. You're talking about character losses, at the moment, the challenges are mainly pvp. You have to give something from the Animals side so that it's not too easy.

Noone will do it then. Reward is to low and unstable to bother. Ppl killing trolls with ranger bows not bcs they cann't do it at melee.

During combat turn off stamina regen. Make it impossible to close/open gates, enter buildings or vehicles and you can't use weapons on a boat (add special PvE tools for hunters like a harpoon for whale hunting)

Cheesing animals is part of the game. You can't fix something that has never worked to begin with.

Jorb, Loftar, I must tell you two things:

The good news is, I believe Steam release will completely alter the trajectory of this game. People LOVE indie games, its ftp, and frankly, amazing.

The bad news is, the combat is so complicated, convoluted, counterintuitive, clunky, borderline abusive to the player, that it may quickly diminish the new user count via steam.

Also, just make Ender's client the default client. It isn't going to be fair to Steam users otherwise (Though you could let Ender's and other clients add through workshop?)

Anyways, I am deepy happy for you both. I love your game to pieces. This will be a blast!

No offense, but if this isn't a joke, then this is probably the single worst idea ever imagined.
Drinking while fighting and running was an accidental masterpiece, and is core to what makes haven the way it is.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy
