Linking & Unlinking your Steam/Haven & Hearth accounts

Hello! Made this simple guide that i'm publishing on Steam soon, but I figure I may just as well put it here too.

If you've HAVEN'T yet launched the game, you can just go on ahead and link your Steam to your old profile directly:

Step 1. Log into your old Haven account, then go to the profile page (button labelled Account).

Step 2. Go to "Account security", and elevate your login.

Step 3. Click that "Link your steam account" button. Done!

If you've launched the game, Steam should already have made an account for you that you'll have to unlink.

Step 1. Go to the log-in page on the Haven & Hearth website. Then, click as indicated to make your unnamed steam account into a Haven account.

Step 2. Follow the steps of the earlier section, except unlink the Steam account on this new account instead.

Step 3. Log into your old account, then follow the steps on that prior section once again to link your Steam account to your old account.

WARNING. As of this guide's date of writing, you can't transfer your characters out of that Steam account you made by accident, so, if your old account was verified or subscribed, DO THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so you don't lose progress.

As an aside, this last thing worries me. Lots and lots of people are going to play a bit now that the game's released and are going to have their characters stuck on an unverified account without much recourse. Is there an alternative I haven't thought of?

Thanks for this step by step guide I ended up making a character on a steam account played for two or three hours Then followed your guide to unllink that account and add my verified account.

Mine says "Cannot link account to Steam while it is being played on." I'm playing via the account I already had on the website, I unliked.

Yes, it means exactly what it says. You simply need to log out from the game while linking.

I fixed the Haven error by downloading and playing on the client from the webpage. Once I connected once , I was able to re-connect via steam , although the character I created on the steam account appears to have disappeared.

I'm absolutely confused, I have a verified account, started the game via steam, played a bit and after that tried linking the account. It says its linked, but I get none of the bonuses.

THIS STEP WILL WIPE YOUR CHARACTERS, DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU HAVE ALREADY ESTABILISHED YOURSELF IN THE WORLD.
