Credo and abandon quest

Postby tyrtix » Tue Nov 12, 2024 2:11 pm

When we abandon a quest, we should DEFINITELY NOT GET the same quest again: i'm almost one week in fishing credo and i am still at level 1 because i keep getting "beat a swan", abandon it, and get again "beat a swan", wich also to be a first level quest of the first credo, is way too much.

I mean, if you're one week in and you still can't beat a swan, you've got much bigger problems my dude.

...Okay? Make it personal, will you?

I'm just saying, swans are slow moving and really easy to beat. Fisherman credo can involve hunting swans, beavers, etc. Your topic is about how things shouldn't be in the game. Well, you shouldn't still be catching squirrels one week in. You should have the capabilities to fulfill that credo quest by now. So your complaint isn't really valid.

Sorry, but this is a jack ass answer. You claim he should know. Well on that aspect you should know not to be an ass.

IF you want to help and show him the error of his ways, why don't you walk him through how he is supposed to kill said swan:

Give him idea on what his UA/Melee should be
Explain the cheese process for swans
Simple tips like this can go a LONG way.

But coming on just to insult the guy is gonna go no where, and since you claim to have knowledge of this game and whatnot. . . Pay it forward

I knew he went crying after beign passive-aggressive, these "people" are all made the same. This is the critique and ideas section, i was pointing out that killing a swan MAY just be too much for the starter credo quest, i can kill them and know how to do, it's just that it is a pain to do and, if you pick other credos at same level, say hunter, it rarely ask you to kill something more than a badger. Other than that, having the chance to abandon a quest to just have it again back to back, is clearly a bug or bad design, see forager credo when you have to find something that is seasonal.

I did not insult the guy, and I'm certainly not gonna post a full combat guide. I'm just refuting an unfounded proposal based on flawed play and anecdotal evidence.

You guys understand what kind of game you're playing right? Complaining for having to kill a swan? When did this become Stardew Valley central?

correct me if i am wrong there, but arent swans way more easy than beavers?

in general i share your sentiment, rolled "study 2 beavertails" multiple times intoo itself,

but on the other hand, you can really be expected, to be able to kill a swan in the first week,

yeah swans are barely stronger than a fox, though they get to flee at horse sprint speed.

that being said, i think they have a misconception as to how far you'll be when accepting a credo. AFAIK credos are "supposed" to be a mid-late game thing but you should really start them as soon as you have a spare 10k LP.
Total misplay.

Exactly. The main problem is taking this quest and comparing it to same level quests of foraging and hunting: it's a fishing quest that needs you to fight, wich is not that much in theme honestly, it also needs at least clovers or it's very hard to kill a swan without a horse, wich leads you to either have additional skills not tied to credo, or be able to fight even better, and/or have some armor because the quest comes up not only once. Compare it to foraging, you need only some exploration there and it's a skill that you need for a forager.
