Animal Blood Spatter Frequency Increase

I would like to request an increase to animal blood spatter frequency. I don't think I have ever killed a moose in melee combat without cheesing tactics like outranging it or dropping aggro/reaggroing constantly, even at the stage of the game where I can easily go toe-to-toe with one. The reason I don't ever legitimately take on a moose (at least in the late game) is that they're so damn fast, so unless I can take it down with a surprise heavy attack (which can be difficult unless cheesing, and requires excessive stats/weaponry), they run, and I end up losing my prey. This feels pretty bad, especially considering the cost of armor/HHP/SHP that comes with hunting. Hunting can be dangerous, and I think that if a player decides to make the trade of their armor and health for a wild animal, they shouldn't end up frustrated with the experience unless they use cheesing tactics.

While this applies primarily to my experience fighting a moose, I think this would make hunting a bear, wolves, or even the dang eagles in the mountains a lot more engaging and enjoyable. Being able to better track where your wounded prey escaped to would make the hunting experience much better. I regularly try to follow the blood splatter of my prey, and if I end up not being able to follow because of the lack of blood splatter, I get pretty disheartened, especially earlier on where the encounter might have cost me a significant portion of my hunting resources like my HP and armor. I also think this adds a degree of realism, if you've managed to successfully slash a wild animal with a sword 10 times and then they try to run, they'd surely leave a bit of a messy trail that you would be able to more easily follow. Thanks for considering!

+1

Tracking hunt could use some improvements to make it more fun
• increase to animal blood splatter frequency mentioned above
• decreased by half flee time after animal loses sight of attacker (searching for an animal that keeps sprinting supersonic for 2 minutes isn't very satisfying)

Further upgrades to the system could be:
• increased effect of players [Stealth / movement speed] on an animal's detection range (kinda like bats work)
• decreasing (over time/hp) animal sprint distance (animal stamina and energy variables might be really cool)
• "alerted" animal state after it stopped fleeing but has increased detection range (for about a minute)

I found the problem right here.

I kind of like the idea of a snare-type move, though I feel like that might have some crazy repercussions in PVP. Honestly if I could just limit an animal's run-speed to 3 if they're fleeing I'd be happy, I hate having to chase a mortally wounded moose that is still managing to book it at 4+ speed.

Can you explain how a horse doesn't solve your issue?

A horse does largely solve it, my suggestion is to explore more interesting or at least reliable ways to catch your prey. A horse is especially effective for something like a bear because they aren't that fast, but what works way better and is less resource-intensive is abusing client tricks like rapidly aggroing/deaggroing a moose so that it doesn't run in the first place. My thoughts are, rather than incentivizing cheesing, we build in a way that allows you to better hunt a creature that really should be limping away instead of running (occasionally) faster than a 3speed horse, or at least, leave more visible signs that they're clumsily stumbling away from a fight they were losing. A moose isn't very valuable, and unless you overwhelmingly more powerful than the moose, it is going to cost you lots of valuable resources, to the point where I just generally ignore them unless I see the conditions to cheese them.

there should always be a marker for the most recent animal you just fought kinda like a quest giver marker
