Is there some sort of hidden tech with barter stands?

I recently discovered an abandoned base that had all their stockpiles, for regular bones, hides, crops, etc... in barter stand areas. This is stuff nobody would buy, like any Q and kind of hide, is there some sort of different use for barter stands that I'm not understanding? Are you able to quickly move things in and out of cupboards with them or something?

I just use for storing away to piles and cupboards

the rest is done the old way, with stacks and pockets, merch robe and sacks, i dont even bring a container anymore. but thats for casual quantities
