1 - This is not an Alpha, in that it will always be in a state of extreme flux. You're not testers, you're players.

2 - There's no such thing as a bug exploit, but there is such a thing as pissing people off by:
-Taking their stuff
-Crashing the server
-Denying noobs
-Being JTG

so don't do that stuff

It is alpha but i see your point. We are invited as players, not as testers. Just quite simply requested to report things.
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

I don't know if I speak for many other people, but the largest reason I play this game is because everyone has the power to steal or destroy everything that's earnable or creatable in game.

It might be rude, obnoxious or mean to do those things, but I find it much more irritating to play in a world where other players are entirely protected, and therefore can go about being as rude, obnoxious and mean as they like without fear of retribution.

Let griefers grief, and exploiters exploit, and let other players do something about it if it offends them.

Our position is "If it can be exploited, by all means do." Not all players agree with it.

PFFFFT! You and your FACTS, I'll bet you got that out of a book, didn't you! I don't need your fancy book-word-fact magic to tell me how to think! It's not an alpha!

Edit: I guess this is a little late, but here goes:

And it goes the opposite way from Anaemic, too. I would play this if you couldn't steal, but I'm heartened by the fact that there are/have been bugs favoring the defense of fair players' goods as well. It's definitely OK to exploit bugs, especially if you're doing good things with them.

Oh. Exploitable.

As long as it doesn't crash the server, It's fine with me.
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

I'm sorry, but how do you justify thinking this way? "It's okay to exploit bugs if it's for a good cause"? Really? Really? Exploiting bugs is, plainly, cheating the game mechanics -- in some cases, it's okay for various reasons (in this case, "because the devs say so"; in the case of Nethack, this is sort of like savescumming, which is "justifiable" by the "well it's too hard for newbies otherwise, so we're not going to bitch too much" line of thought).

But "it's okay to exploit bugs if the good guys are doing it"? Seriously? Why? Down that path lies the eventual "we don't have standards of behavior because we're the good guys and can do no wrong".

For example: item duping

Group A dupes a bunch of steel armor to defend their players against attack and help newbies kill enemies. Group B dupes a bunch of steal weapons to kill group A's newbies. Group A is definitely OK, and makes you happy, while Group B is cheating?

Or a bug that leaves no scents during crimes (I'm making these up, btw; I don't think this exists):

Group A is made up of rangers who do this while hunting down criminals, so that they cannot be killed by said criminals and/or their compatriots. Group B is made up of criminals who do this so they can steal without taking an element of risk. What do you think of group A, and what do you think of group B?

Personally, I think they're all cheating, and all acting unethically -- in this case, ie, Dwarf Fortress the MMO, I think both parties should use the exploit to level the playing field, as the other fair solution (neither party uses it) is unlikely to happen. But I consider Group A to be cheating just as much as Group B is, because their intents are both to subvert the rules (intended behavior).

Please explain your thoughts.
