This is interesting.jorb wrote:We essentially want to move more or less in this direction. Kind of, at least.Yolan wrote:Now that is one very interesting bag of worms. What if... your character was always in the world? I demand a discussion of this idea!!!
In the case of H&H, there are all kinds of interesting possible implications for areas such as the hearth fire system, the criminal scent system, housing, locks, and player behavior (base design, etc.).

So basically, there will be no way around brickwalls for hermits ?jorb wrote:We essentially want to move more or less in this direction. Currently, a lowbie settlement's only defense is the idea that breaking the palissade and wrecking the low gear in it won't really set the hermit back by a lot (since, basically, the produced goods are not very long to reproduce).
Additionally, the very beginning of the game (basically, from the time you spawn to the time you can claim/build a palissade) would be very unsafe, for the same reasons.

Re: Happiness and alts
this would make you feel insecure about doing offline studies, you wont leave too much studying and when you log in you'll have to make you happy again. something like this will prevent alts learning curios and going offline.doing a lot of stuff while is studying should prevent the misery of studying all day and mantain happiness
things like mining, farming would give you happiness at first but with time you will start to feel bad and worst over time. like gravity and throwing a stone to the sky standing in the roof of a tall building, it will rise 50 mts but then it will drop 150.
after farming 2 hours you can go to do other stuff in your city till you are in good mood of farming again,
again, im trying to gather ideas to not nerf "professions", instead of telling me its a sh*t, help me do it better.
i've played salem but not much, i know there systems but not to the point of an end-game character.
edit: i've just read the second page of the thread. didn't refresh the page

Re: Happiness and alts
I think the post you're getting are because when theres shit you can't do much more than flush the toilet...no way to make it better! I would like to see happiness have an affect in game, but not something like this that will make the game unplayable.marbleveins wrote:instead of telling me its a sh*t, help me do it better.
also before happy/sad effects are added there needs to be more ways for happiness to be gained. I know standing near dead bodies makes your character sad, but I always liked having them around because they look nice and there aren't too many other decorations in the game, so while having them around makes me(the player) happy it makes my characters sad...
there needs to be a defined set of things that make a character happy: drinking wine, sleeping in a good bed, eating good foods. the problem is adding those as things to make a character happy doesn't keep anyone from alting or botting, it just gives them a way to make their alts or bots more effective. no matter what you add to slow down botting or alts people who use them will eventually figure out a way to use it to their advantage and the person going solo and grinding will then be disadvantaged even more. I honestly think the best thing to say to you here is make a few alts of your own, and check wizard's tower to get yourself some bots!

yes, erything should move your happiness and of course there are little things that do so, because the system is in hiatus. maybe your personal beliefs can make you feel happier with corpeses around you.
276 hearthlings atm and you think 276 brains can't think enough to make suggestion? all the replies are telling me to stop trying to make a suggestion for the system. you must be the botters and alters

Re: Happiness and alts
At this point I'm telling you to stop making suggestions because you lack reading comprehension and the ability to form logical arguments. Also your inability to take constructive criticism. Like seriously, there are times when people are being mean and then there's times when people are giving you legitimate input and you're crying about it.marbleveins wrote:yes, erything should move your happiness and of course there are little things that do so, because the system is in hiatus. maybe your personal beliefs can make you feel happier with corpeses around you.

Re: Happiness and alts
constructive criticism? half of the replies are about the curios and LP system.
your 1st reply = 80% cruios / lp. pre-judging the suggestion that wast even formed.
your 2nd reply = ppl will find a way to exploit whatever you can do to raise happiness. then you say there is no simple way to solve this problem.
-well, of course, i don't think suggestions are there so i can say "you can add color to the toes of the bear. and the first part means that you dont care to make things better, you just want to say no.
your 3rd reply = stop making suggestions, you lack reading comprehension and the ability to form logical arguments.
you are the one who lacks of reading comprehension, you attacked the suggestion (that even was formed, you created characteristics to the system that i even said.) instead of improving it. its a suggestion forum and your are stopping me to do it.
I didn't use any argument.
can't you see? all you say is to destroy the suggestion.

this makes me think that you understood that the suggestion was only to add death by unhappiness . im trying to improve the happiness system gathering ideas, and this means changing it. you wasn't the only one taking the actual system as base and then add every thing I said to end up replying here that it won't work....The idea being that an active player can increase their happiness while a bot cannot. In its current state, the happiness system provides very few meaningful ways to become happy. You'd essentially be condemning new players to death or to be crippled at start unless you altered the system to include a simple, cheap way to increase happiness faster than activities decrease it. If you do that, bots can very easily be programmed to exploit it too.
