The Justin Bieber deportation is still the most popular one.

It's a good idea in theory, but wifi everywhere is too expensive. Would be better to subsidize smartphones, so that people can get tapped into cellular services that have wider area coverage. I believe there is already something along those lines in the United States... I recall something about "obama phones" that some conservative talk fucks were menstruating about.

What the hell do you know about communications infrastructure? Its far more expensive to roll out cell coverage.Robben_DuMarsch wrote:It's a good idea in theory, but wifi everywhere is too expensive. It would be better not to subsidize anything at all. Its not a good idea at all, in theory or otherwise.Robben_DuMarsch wrote:It's a good idea in theory, but wifi everywhere is too expensive.

I'm not a fan of subsidies either. If you are trying to make the market do what you want you create push or pull factors. Directly forcing what you want with subsidies is always a bad idea.

Re: WiFi Petition
Food is also a necessity. Why doesn't the government just give out free food to everyone? Shelter is also a necessity, everyone should have a place to live. And clothes, and a car, and a TV, and a computer, and internet. Hell, let's just have everything for free. Why should we have to work for our stuff?pokeguy8018 wrote:I don't think that it's the governments roll to give handouts to everyone. Re: WiFi Petition
In most parts of western world getting internet access is somewhat cheap'n'easy - at least you can go to an Internet shop or a bibliotheque or ask your neighbours ... if it was a petition to make the western goverments forcing goverments of "underdeveloped" countries to give free internet access to everyone in their countries i might sign inTotal signatures on this petition

In a free and ideal world water, food, shelter would be free for everyone by law - the ancestors of even the poorest people already worked for it...

Re: WiFi Petition
If nothing were subsidized, and everyone acted in their best interest, farmers would only grow cash crops. Infrastructure would be slow to develop in areas ripe to prosper, resulting in slower economic growth and a less efficient a response to population shifts. There would be less mass transit, which provides an overall more economical alternative to individual transportation.dagrimreefah wrote:It would be better not to subsidize anything at all. Not everything should be subsidized, but certain things should be subsidized because the total benefit outweighs the costs, and there is no private sector equivalent that would occupy the subsidized sector. A "free market" operates under the fallacy that individual greed drives only to create the most efficient system. This isn't true, as is evidenced by monopolies, pre-subsidized agriculture, ponzi-schemes. Unless you argue that creation of regulation by the Government is actually a function of the free market, then I agree.
