The RNG doesn't seem to be truly random. I've seen tiles where decay just doesn't happen (a wicker basket that's been in the lake shore near my place for about two months now), and others where it hits almost always.
It really sucked having to use 40 bricks a day to repair my two ovens =\

Re: Disappearing Cabinets
Just to contribute, it seems as though it doesn't matter if the cupboards are inside a house or outside a house, they will decay given enough time. I thought the objects inside of houses never suffered decay. They do. Just lost a lot of prospecting maps and ink this way, fortunately the rustroot extract was in my character's inventory.
From what I've seen, wicker baskets also decay in one hit.
Straw baskets seem to provide a non-metal alternative that doesn't decay in one hit, so you may want to do a mix of cupboards for non-important objects and straw baskets for necessary objects. Either way, I'm never storing rustroot in a cupboard again.

If they are inside they don't decay. If yours did greetings to your neighborhood griefer.

a man need only strike another to make him evil."

That's a pretty impressive griefer, getting past that locked palisade gate.
No scents and no broken palisade walls, so I'm fairly certain it's not some random person off the streets, unless there's an exploit I'm not aware of that lets you go through impassable terrain. It would explain the jesus boars I've been seeing standing on water.
If objects don't decay inside a house, wouldn't the hundred some maps, buckets, and inkwells be strewn across the floor? They weren't there when I logged in.
This is all assuming of course someone didn't just tunnel through the wall and repair it after they were done. And then decided to clean my house for me after wrecking the cupboards. I've heard of robbers cleaning house, but this is ridiculous!

Small objects easily dissapear after time or after the server crashes.

Well thank you! That solves one mystery at least.Wolfang wrote:Small objects easily dissapear after time or after the server crashes.
Still, I get a good chuckle out of the thought of that. Some crazy guy wandering the woods, infiltrating fortifications just to assassinate your cupboards while you sleep.
"You don't seem to want to accept the fact that you're dealing with an expert in guerilla warfare. With a man who's the best, with bows, with stone axes, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, to ignore weather, to live off the land. To eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In Vietnam, his job was to dispose of enemy carpentry. To kill, period! Win by attrition."

I actually think that was meminck1 wrote:I've had cabinets I've built decay just a few hours after i finished them. There is cabinet down the shore from me that's been abandoned since I started and is still there (about a month).
I was attempting to take loads of sand when it got stuck. If there are now two, then yea it was haha xD

Re: Disappearing Cabinets
the chance that 3 cabinents in the same spot will all disappear within 7 hours of each other due to decay is crazy. Not to mention, my mains cupboards were built when i first joined and they are still standing.Seizure wrote:Cupboards will decay in 1 hit, having them on paved land just decreases the chance they will get the hit of decay.

it would be quite funny, if it wernt MORE irritating.mandude81 wrote:id lauf if there was some person coming and just destroyoing the cabnets out of sheer randomness.
