I wish I could've/could be with you, I don't seem to be able to get this dedication from facepunchers.

I believe your russians are /b/tards, sir. I was spawned in the middle of an otherwise purely russian land, and they're all honest and friendly and shit.

Sadly the only Russians I have met are pillagers and runestone profanity spammers.

I don't like generalizing but I think it is safe to say with all the reports from other players and on the forums that at least half of the Russians are griefing bastards. I hope I meet some good Russians.

Its a fact that Russians are rude. In every MMO I played they band together and act like dicks to everyone else. WoW, WAR, AoC, Aion, you name it.

Anyways, might be a good idea to set up a ''grind camp'' first and when you get rustroot you start looking for a mine and settle down. Thats what I did.

The world started as 5x5 and with a plan to be increased to 7x7, not sure if that has been done yet, but it's a LOT of space. I very much doubt that all the mines have been taken, but it may take a long time for you to find one.

Best of luck to you with your search.

Another option may be to appeal on apples for oranges to purchase a mine. Some communities may sell you one they have claimed in exchange for you delivering them a shit ton of bricks

II'm not so sure world is that big, actually. I can't walk two minimaps in any direction without running into a hearth.

You honestly expected more from the general population of Facepunch? Can I have some of what you're smoking?

how many of them are online?

Constant player count of over 200, how many of those players sign up, create a character, walk around a bit, then never play again? Do hearths suffer decay yet? My understanding is that they don't

With wilderness spawning, there really won't be large expanses without hearths unless Loftar does something like prevent spawning in the outer supergrids.
