Re: Fish giving entrails
Yeah, I've done a fair bit of fishing. Speed is not the problem, the problem is that fish is a waste of hunger that could be used on pies and cheese. So yeah, it's useful for like the first five days of a world.

Mechanicaly, i understand the dislike of the idea of using fish guts to fish with even though it is a common activity in primitive fishing. however you could have fish produce fish guts that you can mix with a liquid to make chum(different from chum bait) that can be poured onto the water to cause a feeding frenzy and give bonuses to fishing, like better chance to catch x fish, or expand the list of fish you can catch...

Re: Fish giving entrails
I think someone mentioned fish sizes earlier... some of these fish species are no more than about 4-6cm in size. They're bait fish for larger game fish themselves. The small ones just don't give any because there's the matter of them not being big enough for a reasonable quantity. (One could argue that these smaller species could themselves be used as bait to catch larger fish that we consider game species today like salmon and sturgeon.) The next size would give small amounts, and sure, they could be used for fishing, but due to space limitations anyway, what are you going to do when you quickly fill up the inventory? And you're going to lose bait as well as have the smaller fish take it, even if you throw away the fish you just caught. Besides, I get fish bait for days just from slaughtering small forest creatures for cheap, easy skins.jorb wrote:Arguably some of the bigger ones should have bones as well. Problem with entrails is indeed the self-replicating nature of that.
