its as if the people complaining have not actually played. Guys this isnt world 7 anymore, there are shield claims now, and they take a literal half days work to bring down. So having a wall that can be knocked down by hand isnt going to stop the already 13 hour assault on your shit stack village. They wouldve already brought siege equipment to knock down your shield for that entire time, so your wall is coming down right after regardless of if they are hitting it with their hands or rocks.
I just dont see the complaint, like, i honestly cant put a finger on anywhere to show how this is bad at all in any way. If anything this will help people who are constantly pushed out of resources, or are palisaded inside of their own walls by trolls for not sealing their cornerposts

Re: Make palisade hand-bashable
Maybe villages could declare wars, when village is in war, its members could freely bash palisade of the other village that the war was declared against by hand after breaking the shield claim There would be somekind of period before the war declaration would become effective like 24-48 hours. Or then not. Of course that would give plenty of time to hide the valuables but its not like they could not hide them with the normal siege period.
I guess war declaration against other villages could have some other effects as well. But those would have to be implemented in a way that they couldnt be abused. War declarations could give the attackers ability to summon characters from their hearth fires and kill them. Maybe prevent them from moving hearth fires. But this would be too op and maybe abused and would be too harsh on the noobs. War declarations could also give attackers some bonuses on enemy territory, but this could be abused as well, by having alt-villages around the world, resulting in big bonuses all around. Of course leaving or joining the village could be disabled while it has war declared, so you couldnt just swap from village to village having bonuses all around. You could have a large village claim I suppose. Or maybe war declarations could be made mandatory to siege any village with village claim, giving additional grace period to the defenders. Problem is that if defenders would benefit from war declarations and declaring a war would be optional, no one would declare them.

Re: Make palisade hand-bashable
They should be bashable with a significant amount of strength and sledgehammer and should take a significant amount of time to do with one person. It should leave a trespassing scent so if somebody keeps breaking into your resource while you're offline you can find them.
I also think palisades should require like A LOT more work to build, especially if you are a hermit. If less hermits had palisades theft/justice could be fun mechanic again, it would be more realistic and it also would make it more difficult to section off resources and build bot villages etc
Ideally building a palisade as a hermit would not be worth the effort, but this would require some other balancing for security issues. A lone thief might want to build a palisade but it should be a significant investment of time for security. Ideally having a palisade should be a group project for villages or very ambitious individuals.

in the end, ideas like this turn out like this:newaccountlol wrote:They should be bashable with a significant amount of strength and sledgehammer and should take a significant amount of time to do with one person. strong, nolife hardcore players do everything in the game (including palisades in ur idea) with relative ease (think statue-bw impenetrable walls), and casual players get fucked over by the idea that makes it tedious for them to even protect their own shit.
this is why palisades are NO LONGER hand bashable. they were simply worthless because it was super easy for hardcore retards to bash palis, but not so easy for casual noobs to build a brickwall.

yes you might be right but then they came out with claim shield. so what is the difference is hand bashing it and spending just alil more time using catapult?NOOBY93 wrote:in the end, ideas like this turn out like this:newaccountlol wrote:They should be bashable with a significant amount of strength and sledgehammer and should take a significant amount of time to do with one person. Yes to handbashing unclaimed palisades, no to handbashing on expired claim.

I could live with handbashing on expired claims, but it shouldn't be possible on one with authority (shield up or not).LadyV wrote:Potjeh wrote:Yes to handbashing unclaimed palisades, no to handbashing on expired claim.

Re: Make palisade hand-bashable
This is a reasonable thing, too. It's a good compromise between the original request and the "OMG NOOOO!" panic I'm seeing a lot of in this thread.Potjeh wrote:Yes to handbashing unclaimed palisades, no to handbashing on expired claim.
Again, a reminder to those who are panicking over this idea: the request is to make palis bashable only after a claim shield is down. At this point, your village/base is already vulnerable and it takes nothing but some extra resources to break the walls down at will, anyway (maybe a small amount of time extra in comparison to the time it took to take out the shield in the first place).
One of the arguments I'm seeing here is about the local resources. What's to stop players from using brick walls if palis are no longer viable to protect them? It's a bit more effort to build and maintain given you need to haul bricks to maintain the walls, but not that much more effort.
