Will you ever consider logging back into the Riot chat that Loftar's in with a few of us? It's a real party in there!jorb wrote:Loftar has one of those whatever they're called chat rooms going.
Hey, look, I've simply forgotten to log onto IRC when I rebooted my computer.

I think the difference here is only one group was able to use it to their gain, which in turn puts every single other person at a disadvantage.Potjeh wrote:Why are y'all up in arms about game balance being broken? It's always been, always will be. You should be used to it by now.
If the system is broken, but everyone gets to use the system, at least we all use the same broken system.
This is akin to using a bike with training wheels to climb a mountain while AD is using HGH and $3000 mountain bikes. The race was rigged from the get go.

Why w12 tho? You're gonna have the same people doing something similar within first three months of that world too. The only way to prevent broken qualities is hardcapping all qualities.

Implying it is truly that easy to do, I think they would have noticed them a long time ago.Yuginelol wrote:How are you gonna hide all your q10000 spitroasts from migfhty SQL UPDATE and it's herald, SQL SELECT?
Things are not so cut and dry that you can easily remove all cheated food and stats gained from said cheated food. Short of rolling back all AD characters that is, and that could negatively impact people who did not intentionally cheat as well (assuming some people didn't cheat).

Same, ever since I started needing Discord to talk to folks I've gotten lazy with starting up IRC.jorb wrote:Loftar has one of those whatever they're called chat rooms going.

It is probably more complicated to do than this sure, but I've yet to encounter a database admin who casually scrolls through tables looking for abnormally large int values in his spare time. So yeah, noticing it would have been problematic, unless you prepare for that specific kind of thing.Omnipotent wrote:Implying it is truly that easy to do, I think they would have noticed them a long time ago.Yuginelol wrote:How are you gonna hide all your q10000 spitroasts from migfhty SQL UPDATE and it's herald, SQL SELECT?

I've been trying to duplicate a bug in relation to splitroasts. Can't seem to do anything in that regards. Can you give us some information on what to expect? Is it quality, meat amount, bones, etc?

Your previous comment implies that it would be extremely easy to do. Now you're saying that it would be problematic. You can't have it both ways my friend.Yuginelol wrote:It is probably more complicated to do than this sure, but I've yet to encounter a database admin who casually scrolls through tables looking for abnormally large int values in his spare time. Being that this is a videogame made by video game developers, and not just a typical database made by a database admin... Filtering results is not your only weapon. It is possible to implement various ways of comparing things like average stats and compiling a list of top-stat players, which is then sorted further with different rules. You could even have alerts for things like a player gaining more than X stat boosts in one day, over a week, and so forth. These alerts don't necessarily need to punish people either, just bring their actions to the surface to be evaluated by a human. Obviously tweaks would be necessary to filter out the majority of pointless alerts, but don't kid yourself into thinking these things are impossible to spot.
Those are very crude examples, but there are actually some effective ways of finding cheaters in videogames. I'm not saying it's easy, but you have to be willing to think out of the box. If you take no steps to prevent cheating in your community, then players can and will find a way to cheat. That's an undeniable fact.
