I've seen a few people pave stone right on the shore line. Where the water meets the land, however I am unable to do this. Can someone please explain why this is or isn't possible?

how do i know if there is ore in a mine wall? i understand it doesn't give an ore every time the mercury glass fills, but how many hits before i can be sure theres no ore there?
if i break through a 1x1 segment without any ore, can i be sure i'm not on a seam?

Mid-world update that made this no longer possible to prevent impenetrable fortresses.mitchdevano wrote:I've seen a few people pave stone right on the shore line. Where the water meets the land, however I am unable to do this. Can someone please explain why this is or isn't possible?
If it drops stone on the ground that means there's no ore there. If ore appears in your inventory then there's ore. Check every 10-20 tiles to be reasonably sure.red9 wrote:how do i know if there is ore in a mine wall? i understand it doesn't give an ore every time the mercury glass fills, but how many hits before i can be sure theres no ore there?

That's correct but you can still get rock if you smelt the ore. Conversion is not 100% and you'll get stone from failed smelts =)red9 wrote:your promptness is startling at this hour. thank you

Re: Please Ask Simple Questions Here
So I just built a new hive, then planted a whole radius of beetroot. Every single one of those beetroots was 20+ q, many were 30+. I got 0.4 l of q10 honey and 2 measly pieces of q10 wax. What the hell did I do wrong????
I'm about to give up on wax production altogether. It seems that whatever I do, I get either bad q or very little wax.

from my limited experience, i thik you can leave the honey or wax in there and it builds up on Q
but if i'm wrong(i'm 50/50 on the answer) then it prolly needs times to build up it's rescource, so keep at it for a week ar two and then see how it comes out.

You're right, joojoo. Quality can raise even with wax and honey in the hive, however, it averages out, so you're really capping anything new produced by doing this.
If you're quality is coming out low, your bees aren't being properly fed by the growing crops. Grow more, grow more variety, a different kind of crop, or keep crops replanted more often. Bees work a bit like livestock, too. They track the average quality of food they've ate over the hive's lifetime, so it will always trail behind. If you're bees go hungry often enough, it might just be better to replace the hive on a regular basis. As a hermit, this is what I'd frequently do to get a burst of good quality honey and wax and it'd slowly drop over time as I didn't keep crops replanted as often as they should be. Compare this to most villages that have people to replant crops as soon as they're ready, they usually have to replace hives every so many generations just so the honey and wax quality keep pace.

But that's just it! I built a completely new hive and IMMEDIATELY planted a huge crop of 20-30q. It was supposed to give me around 20-30 q honey and wax, but it gave only 10. WTF? This has got to be bugged or there is a trick that I don't know.MagicManICT wrote:They track the average quality of food they've ate over the hive's lifetime, so it will always trail behind. It builds up. I had a beehive surrounded by q270 carrots or so, and it started at q10, and built up the longer it was there
