I use the term hermit loosely. What I mean by that is a non combat character. Sure there should be a risk to leaving the walls, but the risk should not be so astronomically huge. When it comes to combat the defender should have a fair chance to escape. This change completely ruins it and sentences them to death in most scenarios. Sure, I guess you can suggest that when people want to go out and forage that they should just get themselves a party together and jump swamp to swamp, that seems like a real fun idea. Then it goes back to the point of how easy it is to lose the character. Chances are back up wont be coming to your side in time to save yourself...

Non combat character AKA Someone who has no chance of fighting, I consider myself a combat character, that said I lose about 50/50 of the people I chase, it's not as easy as you think to chase someone down, unless they really are completely fresh to the game.

With more people the odds are stacked against you, but in a 1v1 I agro you, you have time to decide if you should run or fight, if you choose to run, learn to run well there are many things that you can do to help your survival - IE not running in a straight line, using call down the thunder to queue a move while they are chasing you to negate the 0 defence, using trees or swamps to your advantage. People aren't as helpless as they seem, they just fail to realise simple things like this and think outside the box.

All I'm saying is that if you stay cool and calm when you are attacked and use your head you can usually escape, unless they have the numbers or really catch you by surprised - which then SHOULD make them win.

Anyways our discussion is getting off topic; Auto hearth is broken, Jorb will be applying a reasonable fix, my hate goes off to you sir.

Its not as easy as your making it seem. The character has no choice but to run, then it comes down to a battle of player agro vs player agro. As long as the aggressor can maintain that agro (which is fairly easy) and has a nice supply of water they will win.

You seem to be missing a huge factor here... combat.

"No choice but to run", "whoever has the best water will win".

Did you forget that people can actually defend themselves? Have you ever even used the combat system?

The runner will always have the advantage if he knows what he's doing. Doesn't matter much if its some non-combat char of course though.

I'm not discussing the combat system since I'm not talking about the combat system. What I'm talking about is escaping combat. The discussion of the system itself is an entirely different scenario, one with just as many flaws and problems.
