It would need to be under the village's "Influence" (the village's claim). In a game when some total stranger is likely to kill you, why would you want to spawn some place centrally located? While this is a bit of a crafting game, it's as much a survival game. Given I'm a new player, the problem I've been having is that string is hard to find and I have a low exploration skill with starter perception levels. I've been looking all over for Spindly Taproot and the one time I did find it, I messed it up. That's okay, you just have to keep at it. The fun of the early game is that everything is so wild, dangerous, and hard to come by. Abundance makes the end game kind of boring, in my opinion.
