Server issues: New server

Jorb senses a disturbance in the server.
He rushes to his precious.
He notices that someone has taken his gum that was holding the cruddy server together.
He goes to the window.
He panics.
Loftar comes out of nowhere and pushes him out.
Loftar says "Now, I'll be the only one profiting from our totally free to play game... MUAHAHAHAHA!!!"
Jorb looks up and says "What the fuck bro, you pushed me out of a first floor window directly under a bouncy bounce and expected me to die? What have you been smoking?"

My ISP originates in California but I blacked out those DNS locations for obvious reasons. Smooth sailing across the US until my packets leave out of Virginia and meet some turbulance across the ocean on the Netherland's Eurorings fiber. From France into Germany it's sluggish but ok, and then crash.

I'm really thinking the lag issues are something to do with European backbone servers, particularly in Germany. Almost 100% packet loss around Hetzner seems to suggest something wrong there. Are you guys getting free hosting or something and this is their way to save costs?

Nope, time is paused while the server is down. The only way it can keep ticking while people can't connect is if the server doesn't actually crash but loses it's internet connection.
