Oh no, I am still learning the game and getting established. I was just wondering why anyone does PvP other than to take mines from other people and this explained it.

Yes, you get <5% or less of the total LP of the person you killed at 100% learning ability.
I'm not sure the exact percentage you get. But, I guess it wouldn't be too hard to find it with an alt or two
