Re: Altvaulting: Stealing from Hearthfires
But LG, what about new players? How is anyone going to stick with the game if every Tom, Dick and Harry can keep dipping into their hf and taking all their newbie goods? I know you are talking in terms of your enemies but you know how ppl can be in this game ... unless I've missed something ... I can't see how it is a good thing, though I do agree over alt vaulting per se.

Re: Altvaulting: Stealing from Hearthfires
There's a saying in my country "Tara arde si baba se piaptana" it's translated into "The country is burning and the old lady is combing her hair". The game needs to encourage new players not drive them away. Most people either don't like don't have the time or the antisocial traits required to engage in unprovoked pvp that is probably the big reason why the game is so unpopular compared to how awesome it is. For you and your ilk to have fun you require a population of larpers/noobs/casuals vastly outnumbering your merry groups of raiders to be sustainable. But you enjoy pissing on other peoples sandcastles and it's their fault they don't enjoy it amiright? The game won't bring in enough subscribers to make jlo's worth wasting their time on it while you oditown and ainran just destroy each others roads every day. The game would be better off without you. There is a place and a reason for conflict and that is aquiring resources, safeguarding territory, political conflict not this dota bullshit wannabe crap that has permeated the culture of the game for years.LadyGoo wrote:Does rich and lucky Avu has anything valuable and constructive to say on the matter?
Also why am I rich and lucky? I haven't played in over 2 months and never been lucky ingame or otherwise.

So, how many noobs do you know, who would altvault everything valuable they have? If the raider will get inside of their place, they will loose a lot regardless. Seen people keeping their gold, tokens, sketches and dev capes in their cupboards.Amanda44 wrote:But LG, what about new players? And I'm repeating myself. There are Nidbanes, there will be future implementations to restrict the loss of industry, you won't lose your animals already. It gets to an absurd point, where there is no reason to siege a village at all then, if people are going to altvault their stuff. Why to bother with implementing anything related to the siege system at all then?

So, you mean this feature would only be available during a raid? Or to use on actual villages/towns?LadyGoo wrote:So, how many noobs do you know, who would altvault everything valuable they have? Only I was thinking of players who hadn't even got a claim up yet, let alone a wall and who keep everything valuable to them in their inventory.

I mean it might be a necessity if you are raiding a town. But as Tech has kindly pointed out, it is impossible to differ who is a new player, and who is a pro.Amanda44 wrote:So, you mean this feature would only be available during a raid? Or to use on actual villages/towns?

As for middle-tier and small villages, J&Lo seem to intend to make the sieging that expensive that raiding them would be a bad idea in terms of time and fun. As for me, I have not seen noobs without claims, who would store their valuables inside of their inventories or on alts. Most of the new players tend to put their precious stuff inside of in-game containers.
J&Lo were interested in the idea of puting locks on containers. If it would take quite a while to open one or require some resourses, most of the raiders would not bother with touching noob's curios.

I actually like the idea if there are other means of vaulting valuable goods implemented. Where have the strongboxes gone?

Re: Altvaulting: Stealing from Hearthfires
Yeah, if the feature were available during a siege then I could see it being viable, alt-vaulting under such circumstances does seem a bit like cheating in my eyes and not much point in raiding with the new mechanics, so I get that.LadyGoo wrote:Amanda44 wrote:So, you mean this feature would only be available during a raid? Well, they may make that mistake once but ppl soon tell them, or they work it out themselves that keeping your stuff in your inventory is the way to go, lol. And then there is still 'us' as new players who know not to leave stuff laying around for griefers.LadyGoo wrote:As for me, I have not seen noobs without claims, who would store their valuables inside of their inventories or on alts. Maybe not big groups like you or previous AD but plenty of ppl like to wreck newbie stuff, they will steal bark for goodness sake!LadyGoo wrote:J&Lo were interested in the idea of puting locks on containers. Yes, locks are brilliant but they haven't been implemented as yet, but hopefully will be by next world.

Re: Altvaulting: Stealing from Hearthfires
I wouldn't mind the ability to steal from Hearthfire too much, but there is one relatively major way you could exploit that.
1. Have your Hearthfire at place A.
2. Move your hearthling on place B.
You can now freely move items from place B to A. Severity of this exploit has been reduced with the reimplementation of Charter Stone though.

I don't mind, but! The main charachter inventory should stay safe any way. For avoiding a cheating, let the game choose main. (most developed one, for example)LadyGoo wrote:What if a perpetrator could peak inside of a hearthfire and take the stuff inside of a hearthling's inventory (not equipment or study slots)? That way you could save your instruments, placed in your equipment slots. But not the food, pearls, and other valuables.
I know there will be ways to avoid people sneaking to your hf. However, there will be at least a chance for a reward.

People will use multiple fresh accounts and assign as main the strongbox alts.SiO2 wrote: I don't mind, but! The main charachter inventory should stay safe any way. For avoiding a cheating, let the game choose main. (most developed one, for example)
