I was under the impression that was more to do with people not wanting to eat too much str food, or people not being able to easily return all the food they get from hunting trips? Some people simply hunt for LP grinding (which I regard as a bad thing)

I agree the consumption is fast. If I set out to work hard, build a log cabin on my own or something, im starving halfway through, and again at the end.

Its not really realistic, nor fun, to have to eat 20+ pieces of food in one in game day.
I dont know if food should stuff you more or consumption should drop though. Both works I guess.

True on all accounts. My point was more that - even with hunger as it is - food still gets left to rot because there's so much of it. So reducing hunger won't really lead to a massive increase in food in a world of unlimited, respawning animals and crops that re-grow in a day, can be readily expanded if need be, and often go unharvested for several days anyway.

I reckon a bit of both? Consumption rate should be reduced as I think eating every 15 minutes is a bit much. What I'd like to see is consumption based on a "time passed" thing, rather than on "work done" which it appears to currently be based on. EG: Going afk for half an hour vs working for half an hour should both have similar consumption rates. At the moment, it seems too skewed towards working == starvation.

Food should also fill you up more. Firstly so that taking an inventory full of food with you on a boat trip doesn't result in eating it all before you leave the grid. Secondly, because I think eating 20 chickens as you do right now just seems really, really dumb. Thirdly because bringing back 2 chests full of meat should feed a few people for more than just an hour or two tops.

I do not understand what exactly you(pl) are whining about when it comes to hunger.
I may come across abit harshly here, but please bear over with me, it may well be that hunger needs rebalancing*

Are you complaining about the disbelief/immersion breaking of the numbers involved to keep you fed (# of cows, # of fish fillets, # of baskets of baked goods)?
If this is the case, I must say I feel it is a slight bit weird to get all worked up over this - a fish fillet ingame does not come with stats like weight, protein content, iod, omega3 fatty acids etc. A fish fillet is a representation of some fish, among other things enough to fill your hunger bar a bit.
I have to admit that it would be preferable to have a larger degree of correlation between the amount of "food" in a game object and its RL equivalent, but come on, this is hardly the only instance of faulty "realism" in the game (why can I not mix carrots, onions and chicken in a cauldron to make a nice soup?)

Are, on the other hand, your complaints about the percentage of your online time your character has to spend finding food?
If so, this does not show clearly in your posts, you are not suggesting any counter examples of how things should work, be those examples rooted in game mechanics or "realism". For what it is worth I am quite relaxed with the amount of time spent on food gathering.

It seems the recent change was to fix the weak consequences of having a toon running constantly around at 0% hunger?
Loftar may have overreacted again, but this change hardly has much to do with the larger image of the importance of food ingame anyway.

Well let me break it down for ya, in a game like this, to have to float on starving most of the time if you so much as move in-game OR use 90% of your game time running around looking for food is STUPID and tedious, boring and laughable to any game developer NOT because it exists but because it has existed for so long. So long players have complained from logic to rage about the situation and any developer would have long ago responded to such "major mechanic flaws" with corrections in this long of a time. Eating and food consumption is a cool thing about the game, cooking, hunting, baking and farming ect. But it is WAY unbalanced and instead of being a fun component it is a tedious game-kill because it takes way more of your gamplay time that it rationally should.

To then see a dev, who KNOWS this and has seen this for 6+ months. blow a goof-wad in public by adding to an already major flaw by screwing it up more, killing a mass of players, and making the foodbar problems go from 90% game distraction to 100% game distraction, was about the most embarassing thing I've ever seen because apparently he just slinked off to bed after doing it without a fuck-you, grin, or explanation.

So it's not an over-reation, it's a "what the hell is going on now?" and how do I do anything without staying next to the ovens or dropping dead in this game now?

If you're having to do this, you're playing the game wrong.

i'm too leaving food to rot. ofcourse i have gained around 350.000 lp now and cant be considered weak or new. i kill cows and sheep in a matter of an hour instead of hours

but when you have to rely on trees and fish, yes, the food is scarce. Find a place with too many chickens and you're set

some places, after all, are harder to survive in, including finding food
Learn from the mistakes of others. You won't live long enough to make all of them yourself.

Some people don't seem to understand that you can move like five minutes down the river to a place that's more hospitable.

I'm on the boat which says that food and hunger needs an overhaul. It's stupid that you have to consume over half a cupboard if you do some heavy labour - and that with tea on the side. Right now we got several farms going, shipping crapload of wheat and other ingredients to bakers who then produce tons of food. The whole process can take hours yet half or more of the output that you get in return is consumed during that time - the other half is long gone not too long afterwards. The amount of clicking that everyone is forced to endure (and which wastes a shitload of time overall) doesn't help much either except for frustrating people. Time which is pretty much equal to wasted energy.
