so if you had metal what trades would you be making...?
Being "Care bears" as they call the "not into murdering and giefing" type players. If I had metal I would pretty much trade for anything someone had worthwhile. Anything higher quality than I already had, tree planter's jars? A better saw? Resources, dirt, water, other type of metal I don't have, and yeah a chest full of food or whatever the other people had that was usable by my group. I didn't say I wouldn't trade for chants or berrys, I just said it I wouldn't HAVE to be. Hell on the last map we often had fun doing the "treasure chest" thing. (That's where we'd leave a straw basket of goodies at noobies property lines, usually things like a few bars of metal, pickaxe, scythye, a few coins, things like that...I know hippy shit)
that shit's never gonna happen man. and i think you are seriously underestimating the real "top dogs" in this game. and what group are you talking about that thinks that a vending are is not required in this game? what are you even talking about? and 4 day real life treks to trade...? how long do you think it actually takes to travel a supergrid? because i think you're wrong.
"A supergrid"? How do you know you are only a supergrid from me? What if you are in the southwest corner and I am in the northeast corner? And I walked from northeast-northcentral wall to northwest-northcentral wall, took me 4 days of crawling 8 hours a day with a damn boat on my head, dodging obstacles, knocked out by bears, stopping to gather food every hour on end, and taking breaks to let the feeling come back into my damn arm...I KNOW how big the world is. As for "never gonna happen"...well, of course not, god forbid the game be driven to a cooperative, trade, economic, crafting, project balanced and work ethic sandbox oriented game instead of a warmonger, division for strife, murder/grief cause we've gotten everything we need in 1 month and we're bored now, "there's only 3 cookies so fight it out or starve hehehe", oriented game.

DAMN those irritating carebear peacenik hippies!!!..lol
As for "top dogs", ok I'll bust loose. I WAS impressed, for months I was impressed, I sat on IRC and I listened to the jive, I saw the towns and supposed success and paid little attention to the details, I thought them all expert gamers and compared to the progress I was making they HAD to be working their little gamer asses off. I was in awe, I logged off everyday inspired and determined to "get where they were" and work just as hard. Then I listened closer, and I read more, I watched them brag about their macros and their hacks and their exploits and their theivery prowess and compare who could trick the game and J&L better than the other and all because they were themselves just as cheated and didn't care. They were experts alright, in how to cheat and exploit. And then, I was no longer impressed. Under-estimate? I don't think so. Does what you have now come from hardwork? Your town? Your LP? The skills to already have your mines? No exploits?, no macros? no cheating? (!!And Warri drops dead!!) How many of those top dogs have ever played H&H with just bare naked playing skill from beginning to end...have you? And don't give me the "J&L are cheater/exploiter/hacker gamers too and don't care so it's legit" crap, I'm talking real gamer community here and cheating is cheating EVEN IF the devs do it too. (Saying that because it has been said and used as excuse in threads/irc before, whether it's true or not I don't know or care, it's irrelevant to the point). SO again, yeah I was impressed but now? Well Charlie says it best.
